We loved this hotel. Great bang for the buck. The hotel is historical and beautiful. We asked for a room with a canal view and that's exactly what we got. The ceilings were about 15 feet high with big windows. It's close to the action but quiet. The garden and courtyard are a beautiful way to start the day with breakfast and an equally nice way to end it with a drink before bed.
The staff were friendly and helpful. My luggage was lost by the airline and the woman behind the counter took the sheet I was given and called to inquire about my luggage on my behalf. I really appreciated not having to do that myself. It's comfortable, clean and attractive.
We ended up having to stay in another hotel in Venice for one night and it cost more, the room was half the size and not nearly as charming. I would stay at Hotel Al Sole again anytime. It was a really positive experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a canal view the rooms are bigger and the view is terrific. (Our bathroom had a lovely garde...

Please see copy of email sent to the hotel
Good evening,
Thought I'd have to send an email after arriving home earlier today after a wonderful stay at your hotel!
The directions given on your website were perfect. We easily found the hotel and its in a great location for the bus, train and water bus stations. On check-in we were greeted by a very welcoming Receptionist, as were all the Staff on Reception. Our clean was very comfortable with clean linen and towels - very important. Breakfast in your garden was brilliant, with the added extra company of the birds. On our return in an evening, we had a drink in the same garden and were served by a very pleasant young lady who spoke very good english.

We must say thank you to all those staff we didn't see - porters, cleaners, kitchen staff etc - but without whom our stay might not have been so good.

Thank you once again for making our stay so enjoyable and providing my husband and myself with many memories of a perfect break.

Room Tip: Great location - 15 mins to centre and good transport links - bus, train and water bus stations all...

Al Sole's location is great, near Piazzale Roma, train station, vaporetto, restaurants etc... a bit far from the Biennale in the Giardini and Arsenale if that's why you are in Venice. Double room with extra bed for child was exceptionally large for Venice and cool with high ceilings, very welcome in the sweltering summer heat. Otherwise the room was a bit basic. The breakfast was cafeteria style but OK and could be enjoyed in a refreshing courtyard. All in all you get what you pay for: excellent value for the money (as regular Biennale visitors we can tell...). Highly recommended

A very nice surprise! A hotel which is nicely located and of the buzz of Venice. The service was very nice with hotel room being spacious and well taken care. From what we were told they make improvements constantly. A big plus is the internal courtyard where you can enjoy your breakfast !!our room was on the back of the building and was rather quiet. Room had 3 windows!!! A very good deal for a 3 star hotel in Venice.

Room Tip: There are in the front 2 rooms with a small terrace facing the canal! Must be fun!

We stayed in a superior double with a canal view - great views and a comfy bed. We didn't have tea making facilities which we would have liked and on asking we were told that only certain rooms have these. It wasn't a great problem to us but if its a must for your stay make sure you request it on booking. The rooms were well cleaned every day on our request and the hotel staff were very help and friendly. Also ready to help with tours, bus timetables etc.
Wifi is available - we paid 8 Euros for 24 hours which we used on our devices in our room but there is a PC in the hotel lobby.

The location in Santa Croche is fantastic, a few minutes walk from the P. Roma where we got the NO. 5 bus from the airport (follow the map available from the hotel website when you arrive)
we paid 30 euros each for a 3 day travel card (under 30's are classed as students) which allowed us to travel the whole city.
The quickest way to get to and from the hotel and the main attractions is to go from S. Toma situated on the Grand Canal.
We visited the Lido and hired a bike which was good fun and a nice break from the city.
All in all, a great hotel and good value for money.

Room Tip: One over looking the canal, it is a little noisy in the morning although this didn't bother us...

The Al Sole is truly friendly and represents very good value but perhaps its best feature is its location. Less than 5 minutes walk from the Piazzale Roma (the transport hub for Venice proper) and equally close to the Campo Santa Margherita (a lively centre for restaurant and nightlife). We stayed in a standard room which was perfectly adequate but the hotel offers superior rooms, too. The hotel's exterior and interior courtyard are elegant and typically Venetian. Another plus was the air conditioning which was so very refreshing when temperatures outside we're approaching 40C. Also, an easy leisurely walk from St Mark's Square and the Rialto.

As for Venice itself - just stunning. Only one gripe - could have done with a few venues for casual live music but apparently it's very difficult to get the permissions.

The hotel al sole is a charming and beautiful hotel which speaks for itself the moment you walk in. It has a great location and gives a very local and venetian feel. Our stay was very enjoyable and the staff were very helpful especially valentina on the reception desk. You are given a map on arrival, our room was not ready until 2:00pm but you could leave your bags at the hotel. The garden area were you can eat breakfast is amazing, its very magical with little singing birds pirching on your table and chairs as you are eating breakfast. The breakfast was great they catered for everyone, had a range of fresh fruit each morning and differant types of crossiants still hot where they had been freshly baked, they had a draw fall of tea bags which were all twinnings tea a range of differant tea bags which i thought was great and even had english breakfast tea. We were very lucky we had a canal view room. Overall there was nothing we could fault this hotel over. venice is a beautiful city that should be explored by everyone

Room Tip: Canal view rooms are great, early mornings looking out to venice watching the locals and the workers...
