Stayed at this lovely hotel just over a week ago, great location only 5 min walk from the bus station. A tip don't go over the large bridge and drag all your luggage, if you come out of the bus station there is a smaller bridge to the right which if you go over is a lot easier. Lovely views from our room (we had canal view) very quite during the day however can be a bit noisy in the morning/late evening but it did not spoil our visit what so ever. Very very clean throughout, very helpful reception staff, very nice courtyard garden for breakfast and great location for local bars and restaurants. Breakfast was ok but there is nothing hot, not even able to make toast and to be honest was the most dissapointing part about the hotel.

Would definatley stay again due to location, cleanliness, friendly staff etc.......

A recent stay with a mixed group of adults and students caused me to love this historic hotel. It is a located in a quiet park of Venice, easily reached from all attractions and modes of transportation. The young woman at the front desk was inviting, warm and helpful. Our room overlooked the canal bridge. Their breakfast buffet was satisfying, but the real gem is eating in the garden courtyard. I was sure Romeo and Julliet would love the balcony windows and gardens.
P.S. Don't forget to visit the bar next door. Free Wifi

Room Tip: If you want your window to open, don't get the room by the front second floor pillars

We walked using google map instructions from the train station. This was easy, scenic and took 10-15 mins, maybe less (we had only one small suitcase on wheels and hand luggage each).
We arrived early at about 11.30 after getting the train from Milan, but we were able to check into a room on the second floor overlooking the courtyard. It was small, clean and perfectly formed and most importantly cool. The bathroom the same - although the hair dryer was 'interesting' - I bought a hat after :-).
The breakfast was typical continental with plenty of choice of cereal, pastries, bread, cold meats, cheeses, boiled eggs, fresh fruit and yogurts.
We though it was very cute that you handed in your key upon leaving for the day and picked it up on return to the hotel. Overall the historic feel of the hotel helped get you into the atmosphere of Venice.
We only stayed for one night but walked the short distance to Piazza Margarite for dinner - this is a lovely square lively with restaurants and bars filled with tourists and students. However it is much calmer than nearer Piazza San Marco. We also found a small local open air festival with a live band, very cheap booze (1euro for a glass of prosecco) and home cooked food / BBQ just behind the large church opposite the train station. What fun we had until it was rained off :-(.
We enjoyed the walk to the Rialto Bridge following the signs and would always stop off at Campo San Toma for a drink in square. We preferred to walk and once got the vaporetta boat but found it too busy to be enjoyable. We particularly enjoyed sitting looking out towards the lido from the front area near San Marco, people watching and remarking on the sheer amount of people, especially the tour groups from the cruise ships. It was nice to retire to our peaceful area of town. There was definitely romance in the air all over Venice!

I arrived jet-lagged and tired at the Hotel al Sole, and was greeted warmly by the desk staff. In the next few days the entire hotel staff proved to be very helpful and friendly. My room - #215 -, which overlooked the courtyard, was spotless and comfortable. A problem with the remote was handled immediately. Breakfast, which is fairly standard, is served in the delightful courtyard.
The location is very convenient to transportation at the Piazzale Roma, and exploring Venice on foot.
The next time I'm in Venice I'll gladly return to the Hotel al Sole!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard are quiet and have lovely views.

My wife and I stayed here recently for a city break, the hotel is lovely with a courtyard garden where a reasonable buffet breakfast is served. The hotel is in an excellent location about 5 minutes walk from the Airport Bus drop off point and the Water bus stops at Piazzale Roma, but also in a fairly quiet place by one of the minor canals- check Google maps before visiting to avoid getting lost. There are a fair number of cafes/bars/restaurants close by for an evening meal, the hotel was clean and fair value for money. We had a room overlooking the canal and were sometimes entertained by Gondolas passing by.

Room Tip: Overlooking canal is excellent, air con is fairly quiet. The reception staff are friendly and welcom...

The location of this hotel is excellent, a few minutes walk from the airport bus drop off. That is, if you know the way. However it is very easy to get lost on your way to the hotel as there are numerous bridges from the bus station. If you take the wrong bridge you may end up wandering the small streets of Venice for an hour, as I did, which fortunately is actually a rather pleasant thing to do.

This is a historical building converted into a small hotel. The lobby and the rooms have a certain antiquated look that takes a little getting used to, if you are used to modern hotels. The bathroom however is all white marble, very modern, clean and nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel for 6 nights to celebrate our honeymoon and really cannot fault it!!
First of all, the hotel's location could not be better, very close to everything!! it took us a day to get our bearings but then we found lots of short cuts and little pathways to all main attraction. Also if you turn left out of the hotel there are some fantastic little bars and restaurants off the main track.
We paid a little extra for a canal view as it was a special occasion, and we were not upset!! The room was lovely and quiet with a beautiful view of passing gondolas outside! Our room had a medieval look to it, gorgeous high ceilings and a fantastic huge window. the room was lovely and cool despite roasting August temps outside.
The staff were very polite, friendly and helpful. one gentleman on reception helped us to work out a train time table and plan a day trip to Milan.
We used the garden terrace for breakfast most mornings, we found this adequate with a decent selection of pastries, cereal, fruit and yoghurt.
We really loved this hotel, and Venice! We will def stay here again in the future!
