“Amazing hotel, right in the centre of things”
Reviewed August 6, 2009

We loved our stay at Ca' Bragadin Carabba. The hotel was gorgeous, really modern facilities - big tv in the room, lovely bathroom. The service was always great, they lent us a travel adaptor because ours didn't work and were always really helpful. The safe in the room was free too which is always nice.
They weren't doing breakfast when we stayed which was a shame but in some ways it was really nice to venture out early and eat somewhere different every morning.
The hotel was difficult to find, but it was quite easy to find the square it's near and then just follow the numbers down a little alley and you'll find it.
I would go back to this place, the location was so great, really close to the rialto bridge and it had everything we would expect or need from a city break hotel.

Bedroom & bathroom were excellent, spotlessly clean. The window shutters provide complete darkness for a great sleep. I really liked the decor in my room and found myself commenting on it each day. The staff were very helpful. The location was excellent. I agree with other reviews that the hotel can be difficlut to find but worth finding. I would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend the hotel.

I felt so relaxed as soon as I walked through the doors here -- I'd booked a room after reading mixed reviews online, but in retrospect had nothing to be worried about. The receptionists were very gracious and gave easy directions and good recommendations about sights and restaurants in Venice. The room was clean, well furnished (with a huge flat screen TV, if you're looking for that), and quiet. Like a couple that recently posted their review, I was given a free upgrade to a suite. In all, a very pleasant stay... I wish I'd been there another night!

After a little trouble finding the hotel we were chuffed to be informed that we had been upgraded to a suite. After a brief check in the receptionist showed us to our room. We were not diappointed, the bed was huge as was the TV. Decorated brilliantly and the bathroom had a shower in it big enough to run around in. The tempreture in the room could be controled by us and opening the windows reveal a great view of the square in front of the hotel (The one we stood in for five minutes while looking for it). Chose not to have breakfast, but we walked around and found plenty of pastry shops and places to buy bread and meat so breakfast was eaten in our room with the windows open overlooking the square. One receptionist (though I forget his name) was incredibly helpful when we asked him to recomend places to eat. We went to two of those places and they were both excellent. All in all a great hotel, think we picked up a real bargain with though doubt the price will be that good again.
Worth the effort.

Stayed here for three nights in mid June, having chosen the hotel after reading previous reviews on here. Overall I can say we were not disappointed, the room was bright and airy (admittedly we were on the third floor, and had an open outlook, and I would have thought the rooms below us would have been a little less pleasant), and we found the staff helpful and accommodating, especially if you try to throw the odd bit of Italian into the conversation.
Our room had fully working air-conditioning, which we were able to turn on and off at will, and our only gripe was not getting the TV working, but then again, we were in Venice for goodness sakes…why would we want to be watching TV!
We didn’t bother having breakfast, preferring to eat on the hoof, but what they had on offer looked nice enough.
As for having to leave the key at reception when you left in the morning (as a previous reviewer stated), this was purely so that the cleaner knew when your room was vacated.
For places to eat, try La Mascareta, which is up an alley off San Maria Formaosa Square (just five minutes from the hotel) or Rosa Rossa which is on San Stefano. Both have good local menus and good value house wines (a rarity in some parts of Venice).

Large and well-decorated room. Easy walks to Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Did not eat breakfast there as it seemed expensive (but wasn't in fact compared to restaurants). Staff was very pleasant, but did not seem to be able to solve somewhat simple problems (i.e. courteous but not particularly competent).

Our heating/cooling unit did not function. My wife had a nasty cold and this was exacerbated by the pollution and pollen, so I asked for assistance our first night. The night clerk insisted it was the remote. I showed him that the remote was powered, but he insisted on coming to the room and pointing it at the unit himself. Then he left and brought back another remote. Same result. Then he says "It is not hot. Last week it was hot." I told him that nevertheless it was needed. He said he couldn't do anything about it at night. I asked for another room and was told there were none available, although I know this was not true. He finally said he would ask someone to look at it the next day. We got up the next morning, returning about 4:00. Nothing changed. Asked again at front desk. The new front desk clerk (guess what?) insisted on coming to the room and pointing the remote at the unit. He then said he would see if he could call the manager. 2 hours later, someone gave him the tip as to the hidden location of the second power switch. It works. No offer of recompense from the staff, although we did get a half-hearted apology.

Once you get there, this is a convenient location. However, by water taxi, you will struggle. The taxi driver (rude) will dump your bags and the pier and then you are left to horse your luggage about 200 yards to the hidden entrance to the hotel. Get DETAILED directions before you go. Vaparetto is possible if you have little luggage. Overall, I would recommend staying on one of the harbor islands and commuting in by vaperetto.
