Large and well-decorated room. Easy walks to Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Did not eat breakfast there as it seemed expensive (but wasn't in fact compared to restaurants). Staff was very pleasant, but did not seem to be able to solve somewhat simple problems (i.e. courteous but not particularly competent).
Our heating/cooling unit did not function. My wife had a nasty cold and this was exacerbated by the pollution and pollen, so I asked for assistance our first night. The night clerk insisted it was the remote. I showed him that the remote was powered, but he insisted on coming to the room and pointing it at the unit himself. Then he left and brought back another remote. Same result. Then he says "It is not hot. Last week it was hot." I told him that nevertheless it was needed. He said he couldn't do anything about it at night. I asked for another room and was told there were none available, although I know this was not true. He finally said he would ask someone to look at it the next day. We got up the next morning, returning about 4:00. Nothing changed. Asked again at front desk. The new front desk clerk (guess what?) insisted on coming to the room and pointing the remote at the unit. He then said he would see if he could call the manager. 2 hours later, someone gave him the tip as to the hidden location of the second power switch. It works. No offer of recompense from the staff, although we did get a half-hearted apology.
Once you get there, this is a convenient location. However, by water taxi, you will struggle. The taxi driver (rude) will dump your bags and the pier and then you are left to horse your luggage about 200 yards to the hidden entrance to the hotel. Get DETAILED directions before you go. Vaparetto is possible if you have little luggage. Overall, I would recommend staying on one of the harbor islands and commuting in by vaperetto.
