“Best for People Watching”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

This square made my day when I visited. I perched myself at a cafe, eating my lunch, and watching the sights. Between the locals, the tourists, and the businesses there was plenty to see. I wouldn't take that time back.

“Average Square for Venice”
Reviewed February 22, 2012

Its difficult to find places in Venice that are not beautiful and Campo Santa Maria Formosa, a square north of the famous Piazza San Marco equally fits this description. However, by Venice standards, this is just an average area to visit and probably not worth seeking out unless you are in Venice for some time and have already visited all the major attractions in the city.

We found Campo Santa Maria Formosa to be a decent square to visit but not one of our favorites in Venice. Here you can find an ok church, called by the same name as the square but little more worth justifying a visit to this area of Venice over others of more importance and interest in the city.

Overall, we much preferred the famous Piazza San Marco, Campo San Polo, the nearby Campo San Santi Giovanni E Paolo and Campo Santa Margherita compared to this particular square and recommend visiting these other locations first if you are in Venice for short period of time.

“An OK space.”
Reviewed November 28, 2010

Church at an angle in one corner, smattering of small galleries bars etc and a couple of open air stalls. Locals walking dogs. Biggish hotel at one end. Not a favourite Campo but on the way to other places. Useful waypoint. Maybe more fun in the summer?
