La Rosa dei Venti B&B
Ranked #168 of 476 Venice B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 9, 2013

Whilst not easy to find, there are instructions on the B&B’s website in relation to how to get there. The only thing I would change would be to add a note that the property is about 50 metres from the bridge – look for a doorway next to a pizza place and penguin gelati shop and it’s about 20 metres before the next canal.

Giovanni (the owner) will send you a passcode to get you in the front door and then he leaves the keys to your room in their letterbox as you walk in the front door, on the right. The B&B is on the second floor so travel light!

The owner, Gioavnni is a great host - enthusiastic, very knowledgeable and efficient. Nothing is too difficult and he makes the B&B a friendly and wonderful haven in the craziness of Venice (which I love).

Pros
- The views from the front 2 bedrooms and the lounge/breakfast area are beautiful and are of the lagoon, so there is always something going on to watch
- Location-wise the B&B is perfect. You can take a leisurely 20-30 minute walk to St Mark’s along the lagoon and through the throngs of tourists or you can turn down the canals to see the real Venice
- It is extremely clean and inviting and the bathroom is lovely – with a spa shower!

Cons
- We had one of the bedrooms in the back of the B&B so there was no view, making it a little claustrophobic, however it really didn’t bother us at all because we would leave the room at 8am and not return until 11pm, as there is so much to see and do in Venice. Don’t worry about the room, just know that the accommodation is safe, clean and owned by a wonderful person who is all too willing to go out of his way to help in any way he can. That’s the essence of this B&B.

Room Tip: Get one of the front rooms. The views will be amazing and you won't regret it.

This beautiful bed and breakfast is a short stroll from San Marco's square with beautiful views of the main waterways and is the mooring site for some of the visiting millionaire yachts (what a view!). The rooms are huge and very comfortable. The breakfast was a nice spread of local produce and the host, Giovanni, was very friendly and informative. Downstairs, there is a very unassuming cafe which has one of the best pizzerias. This is a fantastic place, perfect for the traveller who likes a bit of freedom, space and doesn't mind exploring for themselves. Mind you, it is hard to get lost in Venice!

Keep in mind, that this is a "bed and breakfast" and not a hotel so if you are looking for somewhere with a 24 hour reception and concierge then you should look elsewhere. Other potential downsides are that there is no nearby water taxi stop and there are 2 floors of stairs to get up with no lift. But, if those things don't bother you, then you should definitely stop by this little gem!!

Beautiful B&B, a short stroll from San Marco's.
Staggering views over the water from the second floor balcony/windows, including the charming breakfast room.
We stayed in a four bed family suite, wonderfully decorated and with oh so cool air conditioning.
This special place is run by the welcoming Giovanni, who very kindly allowed us to leave our bags there for a day at the end of our cruise while we did some more sightseeing.
It also has wifi. And is right by the Arsenale water bus stop - you can catch a water bus from the airport to virtually the B&B's front door.
Do go!

The perfect location; the perfect host, and a beautiful room. We could walk to everything and we did. Our room looked out over the lagoon and so did the breakfast area. The windows opened up to the lagoon. We loved eating our breakfast with such a view.

Room Tip: you must carry your luggage to the second floor

The hotel is marvelous. I stayed there for two nights. I received an email illustrating the way to the hotel and also some instructions. On arrival, Giovanni met us with a warm welcome. If I decide to come again to Venice, sure, I would stay at this hotel.

My husband and I totally enjoyed our stay at La Rosa dei Venti. This was my second stay within a month so that obviously speaks for itself as to how impressed I was overall with this accommodation. Initially I stayed in the suite which more than comfortably accommodated 4 adults and on my return my husband and I stayed in one of the two suites at the front of building which have double doors opening out onto your own balcony overlooking an amazing water front and entrance to the Grand Canal in the distance. The location is perfect, maximum of 10min walk to Saint Marcs Square and only two minute walk to the water taxi station. The staff were exceptionally accommodating and the communication prior to our arrival was prompt and informative. There is no lift but Giovanni kindly took our luggage downstairs for us when we were checking out which we really appreciated. Overall we had a fantastic stay and have nothing but praise for La Rosa dei Venti and Giovanni. Would recommend for anyone to stay there, totally WONDERFUL!
