We ate at this restaurant on our last evening in Venice, and it was by far the best eatery we found. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was great; a good mix of Italian standbys, but also some dishes with a more exotic blend of flavours. Whilst Oniga is not the cheapest restaurant you'll find in Venice, it is by no means expensive. The atmosphere and the quality of the food ensured we had a great evening.

Staff very friendly and very efficient
Food wonderful
Not expensive
Excellent quality
Try the "selezione di antipasti misti de pesce" / "selection of mixed fish" starter and "spaghetti neri con moscardini, pomodoro e olive" / "black spaghetti with octopus, tomato and olives" as a first course
Fix menus are excellent value too (vegetarian menu include) b

A very crowded place with a high turn around of guest. Despite only two people serving and a dog placed right under their feet between the kitchen and the serving area we had a great and relaxed lunch.

The Cozze in tomato was absolutely first class and the spagetti Vongole was a dream.

The husband-wife couple who run this restaurant are working hard to separate themselves from the crowd, and doing a reasonably good job of it. The restaurant is small, so reservations are probably a must for dinner during most periods. The decor is rustic and the menu and food are a bit rustic as well, with a number of items sourced locally and organically. If you are not familiar with this area of Dorsoduro it is definitely worth a bit of wandering, as the area has more of a university feel than a tourist feel. There are a number of nice restaurants in the neighborhood, frequented by Italians and foreigners alike. This was not our best meal in Venice, but it was definitely an enjoyable one, and we would not hesitate to return here on a future visit.

Delicious mussels, pasta, salmon. Everything was delicious. We ate here after a long walk on our way to the museums in Dorsoduro. The kids loved it too! Probably our best meal in Venice!
