Friendly staff, nice people, intimate atmosphere, but...limited choice of food, poor quantities, and way too expensive for what it offers. It's not a matter of price, I know Venice is one of the most expensive places in Italy, but the cost was really not matching the quality of the food.

We chose this restaurant from our guide book partly because it was located close to the venue of a concert we'd booked to attend. We ate at the newer branch — the one closer to the Grand Canal — and had a great meal, with friendly service of the best kind.
The waiter had told us the two branches of the Pane Vino operated independently and were quite different. So the next evening we figured we'd better check out the original branch of this restaurant — the one on Campo Angelo Rafaele. This time things were very good, but not comparable with the previous night's experience. The menu was somewhat more limited and there was less of the dynamic feel to the service. Nothing to complain about at all, but if I were to revisit I'd go to the newer branch every time.

We stayed near and ate at the restaurant near Rialto Macarto. My mother is coeliac and so cannot eat most wheat products, however these guys bent over backwards to accommodate. Not only did they have gluten free pasta but a gluten free substitute for complimentary bread!

The pasta and wine selection was delightful and waiters very helpful and patient with us who had abysmally poor Italian.

The desserts and limoncello to cap of the evening was great. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to those in Venice. In a city where you have an inkling you are being charged a tourists price but can't see an alternative, this restaurant is well priced and great food.

After seeing that this place was near our hotel, we thought we'd give it a try. We weren't disappointed - the food was excellent. We had the meat and cheese platter to start - which was huge and almost had us full up. However, we managed to find room for mains (I had the Duck Ragu which was superb) and a tiramisu to finish with. Thoroughly recommend - suitable for just about any occasion. If you want cheap eats you're best off going to a pizza place, but this was not expensive by any stretch of the imagination. If you find yourself slightly annoyed by the crowds in St Mark's square then it's definitely worth having a trip to quieter Dorsoduro. Just jump on the vaporetto down to San Basilio.

Our family (2 college age daughters) all loved this place. It is not a far walk from the Accademia Museum. Excellent antipasti ~ procuitto with goat cheese and a cheese assortment. We really loved the specials, which were a mildly spicy pasta and the lasagna of the day - mushroom lasagna. Great service, cozy atmosphere and affordable.
