We stayed at Albergo San Samuele, a hotel right next to this Bacaro, so on the first night we arrived we just went straight there.
And turned out to be amazing!
My fiancé had the octopus salad, came with about 5 octopi and they were delicious. I had a caprese salad, tomatoes sweet and tart, so yummy. For entree, I has the spaghetti alla seppie, which is squid ink pasta, in squid ink sauce with squid tossed in. It's black and sooooo good. I lived in Sicily for a summer and had lots of versions of this dish, and this Bacaro in venice had very good quality squid and knew how to cook with the ink very well!!
Espresso was fantastic of course.
Bottle of wine not too pricey either (for venice), you can also buy a bottle of wine to take away!! Perfect!

We returned our second day for lunch we were so pleased the night before, and it was just as good!!

We were jet lagged, and chose the closest restaurant to where we were staying. The atmosphere is actually nice - has a authentic feel to it. It was a cool night, so we sat inside, but they do have nice outdoor seating.
The food is 'fine'. Nothing at all bad. Nothing at all terrific. We were 'satisfied'.

This restaurant was the best we experienced in Venice. Maybe a little pricey but the staff were so helpful describing the dishes for us and offering recommendations.
The Amoretto dessert was the best I have had. We were made to feel as if our custom was valued and it seemed to be frequented by more locals than tourists.

We were disappointed with the food at this place. It was recommended in top 10 book for venice of places to eat in San marco area, but iwould not recommend it. I tried the recommended Bigoli in salsa, which was pretty decent but i didnt think it was worth 13€. My boyfriend had the steak and our neighbors had escaloppes (thin meat?) Anyway they all didnt like. The side dish of veggies is unappetizing and the fries are worse.the house wine was decent though and the service was good. The tiramisu is alright.
Anyway, try instead Bacaro di fuori nearby for wine and cicheti and the restaurant directly in front!
