Lunch at Locanda Cipriani was a highlight of our trip to Venice with our three children - if only the other restaurants with the Cipriani name was as reasonably priced! We were welcomed in out of the rain despite looking like drowned rats and were made to feel like special guests. The bread was superb and we were also given some superb canapés while we pondered on what to order from the menu. A glass of Prosecco was €5, although a coke was €4.50 and the cover charge is €9 a head. Starters were mostly around €20, main courses a little more. If there was a let down it came with the puddings, which were €14 each, and while they were fine, they didn't reach the same high standards of the starters and main courses. The final bill for five of us, with a €40 bottle of wine (a delicious chardonnay from Maculan) was €426, which while not cheap, we felt was good value give the high quality food (we all had three courses), the superb service, and the wonderful setting.
