Description: Simple, elegant furnishings combined with polite, attentive service and culinary delights based on reinterpretations of typical Venetian dishes which created the "Cipriani style" are the ingredients that have gone into the success of each and every one of Giuseppe Cipriani's restaurants. Still today, they make the Locanda Cipriani in Torcello a cut above the rest. Unlike the surrounding triumphant landscapes with the churches and the blooms in the garden, the Locanda Cipriani, designed as a rustic maison d'hôte, receives its guests in a simple, almost austere environment dominated by wooden ceilings, terracotta bricks covering the walls decorated in Venetian bas-reliefs, and old copper pots and pitchers hanging here and there. he restaurant has two large rooms, both with large windows overlooking the garden. Diners can sit on the outdoor terrace in summer. The garden, is open from the beginning of spring right through to autumn. The blooming daisies, tulips, roses and dahlias, the golden pomegranate trees and the fiery red of the Virginia creeper vines combine to provide beautiful surroundings for the restaurant.. Every day, the "maitre pâtissier" creates a vast assortment of sweet snacks, bavarois, cream cakes, meringues, sorbets, biscuits and chocolates. Our maître carefully selects a range of Italian wines - with an emphasis on those from Friuli and Veneto regions - to provide the perfect accompaniment to the food. The kitchen, headed up by chef Cristian Angiolin, not only serves dishes invented by the Cipriani family and now considered classics - such as 'carpaccio' of raw meat and John Dory 'alla Carlina' - but also offers a whole range of dishes featuring fish, vegetables, home-made pasta and rice.

“Worth the trip to Torcello even if you do nothing else there”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Lunch at Locanda Cipriani was a highlight of our trip to Venice with our three children - if only the other restaurants with the Cipriani name was as reasonably priced! We were welcomed in out of the rain despite looking like drowned rats and were made to feel like special guests. The bread was superb and we were also given some superb canapés while we pondered on what to order from the menu. A glass of Prosecco was €5, although a coke was €4.50 and the cover charge is €9 a head. Starters were mostly around €20, main courses a little more. If there was a let down it came with the puddings, which were €14 each, and while they were fine, they didn't reach the same high standards of the starters and main courses. The final bill for five of us, with a €40 bottle of wine (a delicious chardonnay from Maculan) was €426, which while not cheap, we felt was good value give the high quality food (we all had three courses), the superb service, and the wonderful setting.

“Amazing location, amazing staff, nice lunch”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

I thoroughly recommend an excursion to Burano and Torcello.
If you take the vaporetto its cheap and easy and you get a good sense of how extraordinary it must have been all those centuries ago to build towns in the middle of marshes in the middle of the sea.
And if you are on Torcello you might as well have lunch at Locanda Cipriani - if only to say you have been. It wasn't that expensive in December 2012, and not at all hard to get a table; the staff were really nice; the food 8 out of ten, very old-fashioned, very competent, nothing to write home about.

“Fantastic!”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

Second time at Locanda Cipriani, but this time we passed the night there. It was really a romantic and unforgetable experience! They have 6 rooms with lovely antique furniture, nice parfum and library at your disposal in each room! Take your time in the perfect silence of the Torcello Island (12 inhabitans only!) and read a book in your armchair witing for dinner time...And food was, as usual, delicious! Locanda Cipriani is for sure one of my favourite place...

“Good restaurant on Torcello”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Had a very enjoyable family lunch here after Christmas. Lots of fun arriving at Torcello and the restaurant has - not surprisingly - a totally different feel from Venice itself. Good food, if not outstanding, good wine list and very reasonable prices. Professional service, not cynical at all. overall an experience I'd definitely recommend.

“Christmas in Venice with STYLE”
Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

We celebrated Christmas at Locanda Cipriani in Venice for the 2nd time this year. The 1st time in 2006 was splendid, the 2nd time in 2012 was equally as splendid, if not more so.. Going to this restaurant is not only a superb culinary experience, but is all embracing. From the trip by ferry across the lagoon from Venice via the islands of Murano & Burano, the walk along the canal & over the little bridge to the delightful inn where the restaurant is located, the welcome given by the maitre D & his white coated waiters followed by exquisite food & wine, is a definite must for those who want to experience Venice at its best. We thoroughly recommend it
