I'm writing this sitting outside La Palanca enjoying a caffe latte & freshly baked brioche breakfast. The view out over the Guidecca canal towards San Marco & San Giorgio has got to be one of the best in the world. Andrea, the guy that runs it, just doesn't stop smiling & is a real pleasure to meet.
Lunch is from a freshly cooked limited menu with daily specials that always include a couple of hand made pasta dishes. It's a also a great pleasure to get away from the chaos of San Marco for a while and just...relax.
La Palanca is open in the evening until about 9pm for drinks only. A great place to stop for un'ombra (google it), a prosecco or a local Aperol Spritz after another hard day sightseeing & shopping. Or maybe for a drink before dinner while you watch the world go by.
Getting there: about 10 minutes on the number 2 vaporetto from San Zaccaria. Slightly quicker if you get the number 4.1, although that one does get very crowded.
Well worth trying, you won't regret it!
