Having eaten here over 35 times, I feel I can review this place better than the recent negative review, thats only complaints were a bit of a mystery to the readers....Too MUCH Tuna on the salad?
That is good value, not something to complain about, and as far as price is concerned , the priced in the most difficult city to GET suppliers delivered to in all of Europe, actually cheap....I love the decor and the great wine list!
To contributers of negative comments, please stop it! You can ruin a business with your clueless comments......Mirai standard out as a GREAT restaurant in a sea, or better said, a lagoon of mediocre restaurants near the Santa Lucia train station

From San Marco area had to catch water bus 5.2 for Ferrovia (where train station is). Walking could be tricky. We were looking for an alternative to Italian, and read about Mirai. Our spicy tuna salad and white fish antipasti dishes were way too overwhelming with the amount of fish relative to salad/sides. We could only eat half of each dish before starting to feel a bit sick (the tuna salad had big chunks). The spicy salmon uramaki was very good with spring onion and their soya sauce having a hint of truffle oil. The salmon nigiri and avocado maki were good. The bill came close to euros 45 per person (no alcohol and no dessert) which was way too pricey for what it was, and probably explains why the restaurant was so empty. The waiters were very polite and welcoming however, but the prices are too high for the offering.

One of the best Japanese restaurants we have ever been to - we went twice in four nights!

The first time we had the 10 course degustation menu. It was sublime. First course was a combo of dishes that were instrincally Japan but with an Italian twist. White fish sashimied with a sesame dressing and a "salad" of salmon and tuna sashimi with a rich sweet salty soy dressing. A salmon mixture wrapped with Wonton wrappers, shaped like a fat pancake and deep fried yummm! A briliiant selection of Nori, Maki and Uimaki and a fabulous ixed tempura. We never got to the dessert but I bet it was wonderful.

The second night we tried another wonton fried dish and then reorder several from the night before.

The service was perfect - attentive but not pushy. The wine selection was excellent, we had a fabbo Italian Pinot Grigio and some excellent plum wine to finish off. I would travel the 24 hours in a plane it takes back to Venice to go to this restaurant.

We have sushi-loving kids who were dying for sashimi and rolls, so we made the 1.8 Km trek to Mirai to check it out.

Nice, modern interior, with hushed lighting. Decent menu repertoire. Fish was fresh and good, albeit with some unwanted connective tissue (my maguro). Tempura only average, but a side green salad was surprise hit with chunks of avocado, tomato in a nice dressing.

Service was friendly and quiet, and she did forget one of our rolls we ordered. No biggie, as we'd had enough. The most expensive meal we've eaten yet, so given the overall quality, really not worth the price - except my finnicky 8-year old finally had protein and veggies for the week!

So for the only game in town, it's good enough to satisfy. (btw, we eat sushi in california at a very good place 1X/week, so know our sushi)

We heard that the Venetians we supposedly very excited about this place but only tourists were there and everyone seemed bored. The sushi was fresh but nothing special. Adequate, nothing more.
