As a seasoned member of "tripadvisor", supported by lots of research over weeks we selected this hotel and its location very carefully. We were not disappointed as a matter a fact it was fantastic!

Firstly the location is brilliant within less than ten minutes walk to St. Marks Square(San Marco) and really easy to find when you first arrive. By the way guys this is really important as when you arrive and a bit tired (especially at night time) the last thing you need is to get lost. This is something which (if this is your first time) is very easy to do in Venice which is very beautiful but a maze of small streets! When you first arrive in Venice (Marco Polo's Terminal) you will need to get to the hotel location either by a water taxi (costs far too much 90 euro's), or my advice is take a water bus (known as a Vaporatto 12 euro's per person including luggage), down the Grand Canal. Get off at St. Zaccaria, much cheeper and only a few minutes walk to the hotel.

By the way make sure you take the Vaporatto down the "Grand Canal" not the larger canal as it takes much longer. The journey on the Grand Canal takes about 40 minutes and you will see much nicer Venetian buildings and sights, as I also viewed and took the Vaporatto down the much larger canal, no comparison!.

When you arrive at the hotel location you will love it. Although it's only minutes walk from the attractions, historic sights, art, restaurants, bars, shops, etc, it's location is within its own very private area. It runs along the side of a small canal full of that great Venetian atmosphere and it must be said both the location and the hotel are in three small words so important to any traveler "a little gem"!

We asked for a quiet room and my advice is to email prior to arrival with any "reasonable" requests (email address is info@cortedeigreci.com). The rooms overlooking the canal have a great outlook and are very romantic for that very special weekend. But there can be some noise simply because the Italians are great friendly people, but can be that little bit loud at times (bless 'em), but in a very nice way!

We asked for a quiet family room for three and it was excellent. We stayed in the apartments with loads of space, nice large bathroom with a good big bath not shower. The view it must be said was not as nice, but it was really quiet and restful where you can get a great nights sleep with no disturbance from outside whatsowever!

By the way the superior rooms are bigger but no bath, just shower.
Our room was very clean, very good maid service, excellent Italian/Venetian decoration, king size bed and plenty of storage space. Lots of really nice touches such as modern air conditioning which worked very efficiently and unlike most hotels you did not have to pay extra directlty to the hotel. Likewise free safe in your room for your cash, shower gel/shampoo, even down to personal hygiene bags in the bathroom and anti-mosquito plug in devices. All once again as standard with this hotel!

You know guys really the careful tought which has gone into this smaller but really well ran hotel reflects everything about it.

The breakfast eating room although compact, once again had been carefully tought through to fit in a reasonable number of guests. The breakfast itself was really good with plenty of choice (self service) and as much as you wanted. With a wide variety of coffee, tea, etc and ALWAYS SERVED WITH A SMILE, from a lovely lady!

To finish I have to say a very special word for all the staff and especially Alex. Likewise the reception, breakfast staff and the maids they were really great. So friendly and really they do go out of their way to help and make your family holiday or that romantic weekend that little bit special.

In all modesty on my behalf, I have stayed at some of the very best five star hotels both on business and personal in the UK, Paris and USA and I have to say the Corte Dei Greci Hotel, although a smaller hotel is up there with the very best of them. This hotel does not have a five star rating, but take no notice of this if you want comfort, quality, great location, some really nice personal touches and all at a very reasonable price, then my advice guys is take a serious look at this hotel..

"Have a great hols and if you do decide to stay here please say hi to Alex for me as we had some great conversations"!

The location of this hotel is probably its best feature as it is located only a five minute walk from St Marcos Square. We stopped in the Superior Deluxe Suite and it was beautifully decorated with a Murano chandelier & mirror along with a bed that would comfortably sleep five or six people. Combined with the Marble floor ensuite bathroom and private veranda with table & chairs made this room a very enjoyable place to sleep and rest our weary legs. Breakfast was a simple affair of standard european meat & cheese along with fruit juices and bread & croissants. The hotel is a little rough around the edges and does seem to be having some restoration work being carried out but this was not in the room or area we stopped in so was of no concern or inconvenience to us. This certainly isnt the cheapest place to stay in the area but its traditional charm more than makes up for it.

Room Tip: Go for the Superior Deluxe Suite it is definitely worth paying the extra

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and we were not disappointed! We have found the staff both times to be helpful and welcoming. The hotel itself has a Venetian charm with murano glass chandeliers and mirrors with beautifully decorated rooms. It is very clean and the room we had was for 4 people which was very spacious. The breakfast was just enough for us, a croissant and a roll each with choices of jams, meat, cheese, cereals, yogurts, juices and coffees what you would expect with a continental breakfast! The location is fantastic (about 3 mins away from st marks) and we enjoyed the hotel's free trip to the island of Murano and the glass factory (you just need to pay for the bus/taxi home). We would all definitely stay here a third time in the future and would recommend to others.

To summarise an average hotel that is a bit rough around the edges, typically abrupt Italian staff which took the edges off a bit. This review would be 2 stars in my opinion if it wasn't so close to St Marco sq and main attractions.

I have just got back from a 4 night stay with my wife in Venice at this hotel. Venice was amazing and we only chose this hotel because of its location. We thought we wouldn't be in the room much due to all the sight seeing so we were just after a comfortable room with reasonable amenities. We were not expecting the Ritz on arrival but still the hotel barely met our expectations.

On arrival we were taken two doors down from the hotel to one of the apartments. Our room was overlooking a shabby courtyard but we were not too upset for reasons above. The room was clean but not particularly inspiring. I would not have been happy with a child in the room as both electric sockets by the bed on either side were completely pulled out of the wall leaving live wires exposed.

The bed was rather hard and uncomfortable. I didn't sleep well all week.
There wasn't any tea of coffee making facilities.
Wi Fi was extra we were charged 10 Euros for the duration of our stay.
Breakfast has few tables as mentioned in other reviews although we never had to queue.
Breakfast was very basic, 2 cereals, croissants and bread, a few yogurts and selection of ham and cheeses was about it.
The room appeared to have very little sound deadening, we could always here the couple opposite arriving and leaving.

The bit that annoyed me most was that we had booked the string concerto (Interpreti veneziani Chiesa san vidal church) one night and my clothes were very creased from the flight. The concert was excellent and highly recommended as a side note. I managed to ask the maid one morning when she was about to clean the room if she could iron a shirt for me. She said no problem just book it through reception. When I went to reception the woman was quite rude and said 'we don't do that'. I thought that was a bit out of order and it was hardly request of the century. I wasn't sure if she had understood me so I asked again the following morning and again she was very rude and said ' I told you yesterday we don't do this!

Considering most people go to Venice for a somewhat romantic break the owners and staff seem rather disinterested and are happy to give you a key to room and that's about it.

All in all a bit disappointing. I will definitely return to Venice but will be saving up a bit more to stay in a better hotel next time.

Room Tip: Try and get a canal view room, it may be a bit noisier but far more inspiring than a courtyard round...

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel, very easy to find after watching the video on the website.
It is situated in a pleasant location that is not too busy, yet is convenient to San Marco.
Staff were business-like rather than welcoming.

We were given a room with a canal view, and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, water was coming out of the toilet bowl, and the gentleman at the reception initially told us that it was a problem with the canal waters rising up and down, and not a problem with plumbing! Eventually when we asked for more towels, we were upgraded to one of the suites next door. It was grand and spacious (but we actually preferred the smaller cosy room if there had been no problem). There was a huge living room also on the floor. (Yet the reception area and breakfast areas were so small). Breakfast was not a true buffet, we were given only 2 rolls. The coffee was not good. Anyway, at least breakfast was included.
2 free bottles of water were available each day (but unfortunately there were no tea/coffee making facilities).

Venice was very crowded, so we got up very early one morning to explore Venice without the crowds.

Overall this hotel was a good base to explore Venice at a reasonable rate (especially if you get a room with a view), but the experience could have been better if staff were more welcoming and the breakfast was improved.

Location is great, room was sparsely decorated but large by European standards, breakfast was very basic with limited choices (I would not recommend it at all). Room where breakfast is held is tiny and in-welcoming, coffee comes from a push button machine (not what I would expect in Italy), not able to get a coffee before 7:30 am and staff not helpful to suggest a coffee shop that was open. With so many beautiful hotels to choose from, I would not recommend this one.

Great location , however the room was small and at the rear of the hotel, no view. Breakfast was modest to say the least. The photos on the web site make this hotel look a lot more grand than it is. The staff were polite and courteous at all times. If its location your looking for then this could be the place for you.
