“Always worth your visit”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

After many years of success in the local food community and of praise on several food guides, l'Anice Stellato remains a good, solid restaurant, which is not to give for granted in a city like Venice.

Situated in one of the quietest areas of Venice (Cannaregio, you might want to choose a hotel there as it's a very nice, quiet location with good places to drink and eat), from a typical local trattoria l'Anice Stellato has now become a renowned restaurant with a satisfying menu, good wines and good quality/price.

The ambience is pleasant and intimately lit, the staff helpful, portions are abundant (fritto misto is a specialty that can alone be enough for a meal).

In all, probably not an unforgettable experience, but a sure choice in a city that can be tricky, foodwise.

“Highly recommended”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

We came here to celebrate an important birthday. Wonderful food, pleasant and very helpful service and no sense of being rushed through our meal. As on our previous visits we enjoyed the evening very much, and will hope to go again. Highly recommended.

“Must visit in Venice”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

Outside the tourist jungle this a typical venetician small restaurant in the ghetto!
Great food, great wines, reasınable pricing. What we liked most was the readiness of the waitresses to chat with you and to give lengthy ecplanations on the menu also in english! This is quite difficult to find in small family restaurants. Try it, you'll like it.
You have to be good in address-finding :)

“One of the two best restaurants in Venice.”
Reviewed December 16, 2012 via mobile

Visiting Venice regularly mostly staying in Cannareggio we have found many excellent local restaurants.
For simple fresh local ingredients delivered in a casual familly resaurant this is the best.
Excellent local dishies freshly prepared and served by freindly welcomming staff.
Need to book now most of the time as it is so busy both with locals and tourists.

“More of the Local Stuff We Always Love”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

When eating abroad my goal: find the places the locals love. Takes a bit of research and the concierge can tell you where he would eat if he were taking out his wife.

This is one of those places, though it's becoming too well known.

But it's still worth it because our local Venetian fare was just great. The service was tremendous. They quite well understood 'sensa glutine,' and I was served a great risotto substitute for a pasta dish I wanted. My wife's prawns and scallops were tremendous.

Pricier than most. But then if you're in Venice the tourist food is so bad it is nice to find a place like this.
