We were treated to an excellent evening at this out of the way magnificent restaurant. The decor was stylish and the waiters most attentive. We were served tasty risotto and pasta dishes. The frittura mista of fish was delicious.A great selection of local wines.

Stumbled across this lovely restaurant when wandering in the alleyways around our apartment. At first we were concerned that it looked very expensive for our family of four but the menu is extensive and varied and there is something for every budget - you could certainly have a very expensive meal but equally you can eat top quality food, with excellent service, for a very reasonable price. We sat inside as it was raining and the atmosphere was calm and professional with classic decoration and a warm welcome. The waiters were top quality - smartly dressed, multi-lingual and very helpful - made our children feel welcome and at ease. In some ways the restaurant seemed to be from a former age but that is a compliment - everything was done well and without hurry. We were given a welcome Bellini cocktail - a nice touch - and all our food was first class. Desserts were a treat - a proper dessert trolley with a wide range of homemade desserts presented and explained by our waiter. Another blast from the past but I loved it! Finished the meal with coffees and complimentary petit fours and went home very happy with the evening, the food and the bill. Sixteen year old son said it was the best meal of his holiday and that has to be a good testament!

Away from the crowds and the tourists, this Venetian gem was just the ticket for us. We stared with octopus salad which was delicious. We had the mushroom and scampi risotto for two which was, hands down, the best risotto I have ever tasted. Dessert was lovely too. They also recommended a great bottle wine. We loved the live music and the great service we recieved from the waiters. All in all, an excellent experience!

We were looking for a good genuine italian restaurant, not a tourist trap. In our hotel they recommended 'A la Vecia Cavana'. It's a typical hidden restaurant for locals, whit an old pianist.
The meal was excellent, great portions, very good service. A vaste choice of good Italian wines.
We ordered 1 extra salade: they brought us 1 large bowl and split it on 6 plates. So far ok, but
on the bill they counted 6 salades. Like I said: a typical italian restaurant ! So we complained and
threatened to destroy them on Tripadvisor >> result: 1 small salad on the final bill.
It's a wonderfull world.

This Restaurant was recommended to us by the woman who owns Mea Liberia Tutti. Mea Liberia Tutti is a store that sells gluten free food and the owner is very knowledgeable and helpful in directing you to restaurants in Venice that are gluten free. This restaurant was one from a list that she had and they did in fact have a Gluten Free menu.
The restaurant is very nice - meaning you should dress appropriately and not come in wearing shorts, t-shirts etc. The night that we were there - there was a large party of Venetians celebrating someones graduation (which we had seen taking place in St. Marks Square) and in fact there appeared to be very few tourists there (I take this to be a good sign).
There was an amazing piano player who played wonderful classical and jazz throughout the evening.

The service was prompt - but never hurried - very old school.

The food was very good. As the place is known for seafood - we stuck to that and were not disappointed. The sea bass was cooked perfectly. The mussels were fantastic.

The evening was a bit expensive (around $258.00 for four people including wine and appetizers) -but the food was good, the atmosphere elegant, no one was going to get sick from gluten, and service was superb.

Remember: If you go - dress up a bit.
