“Excellent choice for exploring Venice”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

We really liked this hotel. The location, a short walk from the train station, makes it ideal for your Venice stay if arriving by train. It is walking distance to all major sites as well as the Vaporetto to places like Murano, Burano, Lido etc. The hotel is colorfully decorated and rooms are well appointed. We stayed in a corner room on the second floor which had pretty rooftop views of Venice. There are many nice restaurants nearby and even a laundromat if you are traveling light and doing laundry. Breakfast was quite nice and the service was excellent. Front desk folks were reserved but extremely friendly when approached (very Northern Italy.) One small quibble: The wifi sitation. They have free wifi that works perfectly but it is only available in the common area/lounge/breakfast room. No in room wifi. It could be related to the thick stone walls and the fact that it is a very historic building (trade-off I suppose). We would definitely stay here again when we visit Venice in the future.

Location was perfect , quiet street in Santa Croce area. Very near vaparetto stop and close to a square and supermarket. My 81 yr old mother came with me and my family and they treated us like royalty. Such wonderful service from all the staff . They couldn't have been more helpfull.
I was not expecting much from the breakfast bar , but was pleasantly surprised as the food was great and lots of choice. We knew before we went that there was no restaurant facility but we were at least able to sit in the breakfast area any time of day to chill. Excellent free wifi there too.bedroom very clean and comfy beds. No bath but shower and bidet . We stayed for 4 nights in total. Would definitely go back .

Husband and I stayed for 5 nights in Feb 2013. We had booked the Superior Double and it was small. But this is what to expect in most of Europe. The room was clean, decorated nicely (a little quirky) with a comfy bed and descent shower. Staff were very friendly and they had a 24 hour reception.

We arrived by bus from the airport and it was very doable with luggage..we walked to the station and then followed the hotels directions and found the hotel quickly. No need to get the water taxi but if you have several bags it may be a good option. Alhough the hotel is close to the train station it is a 30-40 min walk to St Marks Square and the Rialto bridge so keep this in mind. However, its wonderful to get lost in Venice and to eventually find the hotel and think...how on earth did we end up there:)

Breakfast was plentiful with cheeses, cold meats, bread, cakes, cerial and pastries. The area where breakfast is served is the only area you can get the wifi (tyr opening the window in your room and you may get a weak signal) This areas is relaxing but they should put a tv in there so you can chill out after a day of getting lost. Tea and coffee in the area would be ideal as well.

Other than that a lovely stay and I would recommend it to family and friends.

This hotel is in an awesome location. It is within short walking distance from the water bus terminal and the plaza. The room is beautiful, not to mention about the jacuzzi bath tub. The staff is very friendly. When we arrived, the room was not ready yet. So the lady at the front desk made us hot cocoa and warm chocolate pastry. It just made me feel very welcomed. I love that place and will definitely return again in the future.

Hi we stayed here for 3 nights from 2nd April to 5th April and it was one of our best stays across the europe... The staff was really helpful and everyone was always willing to provide a helping hand either with the directions, food, places to be seen in Venice and whats not.Though internet wasnt available in the rooms and there was no English movie channel being telecast on the TV, we enjoyed being on the 1st floor to access the internet and had a very peaceful time away from any TV. Truly feel blissed after being to this hotel. This place rocks in terms of the Hospitality it offers and it has a great location advantage as well.

10min walk from the train station, so no need to worry about getting a water taxi, however there are a few stairs to get over the bridge on the main canal, so pack lightly to save your arms.

Located on the quieter side of the canal, this hotel allows you to get always from the overly busy streets, yet they can be walked to in only a couple of minutes.

Venice is a maze, so you will need the free map that they give you when checking in. The Rialto is about 15mins walk, with St Marc's about 30-45min.

The nearby station made it easy for us to also use the big water ferry stop and also do a day trip from the station. We then also walked to the bus stop next to the station to get the Aerobus to Marco Polo airport, which takes about 25mins and costs €6.

Beautiful old building which has been fully renovated with the main common areas being bright and fresh. We were lucky enough to be upgraded at checkin and had a big sized room with excellent water pressure in the shower (the best by FAR in Europe). Marble floor in the bathroom and a comfortable bed.

One slight annoyance was that the wifi is only in the common area, however we knew this in advance. Having said that the wifi was fast and the common lounge area has loads of chairs and is very comfy and a quiet area to relax in.

The included breakfast was excellent, with the usual continental spread, but also bacon and eggs available. Coffee is made fresh with espresso, cappuccino etc also on offer.

Really friendly staff, some of the best we have ever experienced. Reception, house keeping, breakfast staff, they were all sensational. Smiles from every one of them, which was almost a shock after staying in other hotels.

Myself and my wife stayed here for a 3 night break from March 17 to March 20 it was booked as a romantic birthday present for my wife and this hotel delivered all that we expected and some, the staff were polite, helpful, friendly and happy when ever they saw you no matter what the question. The hotel blened in superbly on the outside as a splenid old venizia building but on the inside prepare to have you breath taken away,it was so chic and ultra modern but done really tastefully keeping certain old pillars and points of interest our room 206 was fantastic, and we got the best sleep as the location is a quieter area but stll within 2 mins walking distance to the grand canal, we took bus no5 from the airport to arrive at the bus station. The breakfast was also very good with a nice mix of hot and cold that was superbly laid out and well prepared,we will definetly return and try other hotels in this group.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Hotel Ca Zusto Venice is an ancient patrician palace of the fourteenth century in a noble and sophisticated style just a few steps from the Grand Canal. Thanks to the skilful conservative renovation, the building has been restored to its former glory, when Venice was a crossroads between East and West. The result is a boutique hotel, unique and innovative from all points of view: from the comfort of which it disposes to the design of the interiors which reaches its highest expression in the only 22 rooms of the hotel. Each one of them is exclusive and unique. High tech equipments integrate themselves within ancient and aristocratic spaces, creating strong contrasts, the true expressive sign of the whole building. Curtains and brocades, precious bedspreads and the ceilings with ancient beams stand out of different tones of color. Everyone clearly feels the inspiration from Byzantine atmospheres. The service is 4 stars, with great attention to each detail and thought to satisfy every desire, in the name of the Italian hospitality. The Hotel Ca Zusto Venice is a little jewel to be lived and discovered in the historic heart of Vernice. From the "Basilica della Salute" on the Grand Canal to the small canals all around the "Teatro La Fenice" or between Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, a traditional gondola tour is ideal to appreciate some of the most beautiful settings of Venice. ... more   less
