“Art Heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 30, 2012

Don't miss this! Giotto's frescoes in this small chapel are truly astonishing. The ritual before going in is necessary to preservation; don't let it deter you.

“Evening tours are a bit longer”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2012

Evening tour (after 19:00) is 20 minutes long as opposed to 15 minute daytime tours. We were able to reserve 'back to back' tours for a forty minute experience. The first twenty minutes seemed to go by extremely quickly.

“Giotto's most complete work”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

Many years ago one walked into the front door, paid for a ticket, and there you were. But there was little protection for the paintings. Today, the chapel is hermetically sealed much as Leonardo's "Last Supper" is. Moreover, entrance is gained through a museum which, if you have an extra hour, is well worth the time. The park where the chapel is found was once an ancient Roman arena. There are many artifacts to be seen in the museum.

Giotto painted the chapel around 1325, and doing a little research before your visit will yield more pleasure when you are in there. Also, the length of time allowed in the chapel is limited. Only 35 people are allowed in there at once so you are shown out after insufficient time. Just before you enter, however, you are shown an instructive film that prepares you somewhat for the wonderful experience.

We were driving with a driver and able navigator and map. Signage is not good, so we had time and trouble finding the place. A GPS is strongly recommended and would have saved us an hour of looking, parking and walking. There is little time to linger in the streets as the Italian drivers are motivated to reach their various destinations.

“It's All True”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

Everything you read about this beautiful chapel on Trip Advisor is true. I won't eleaborate. I will say that you should not be put off from trying to get in because of the suggestion that it is impossible to get a ticket. We did easily, and our tour, and the tours that preceded and followed ours, was not full. There is also a very extensive archeological museum at the site, and is included in your price of admission.
