even if it was a last minute choice, everything was nice and especially the staff. Location is excellent as far as proximity to the central station is concerned but not that nice in the sense of views and surroundings. A nice choice nevertheless

I’m not as enthusiastic about the Hotel Al Carson as other reviews. For a budget hotel, it has a lot going for it, except for a good night’s sleep! As reviews have stated it’s an easy 7 minute walk from the train station, but the train tracks run right behind the hotel and if you like the windows open, it’s very noisy! The room was too hot to close the windows, too early for the A/C, thus a miserable, hot night! Also, the bed and pillows were too hard for me and I don’t like beds low to the ground.

I do agree with other reviews that the rooms are clean, large for European rooms and the staff welcoming. Breakfast was very good compared to many other Italian budget hotels, with fresh fruit, meat, cheese, yogurt, breads, cereal and good coffee. The TV offered CNN and BBC in English. The area doesn’t offer much in the way of restaurants and seems a bit sketchy at night, especially for a woman traveling alone. It was an easy 15 minute walk to Scrovegni Chapel and into the city center, so it’s not a bad choice for those who don’t want to lug their luggage into the city and would like to be near the train station. For me it was just an OK stay and I would probably try a different hotel on my next visit.

My wife and I returned today from a week at the Hotel Al Cason in Padua. We could not have found better accommodation. This hotel has been run by the same family for many years - and their experience shows! The rooms are large and well appointed, and the beds spacious and comfortable. Management and staff could not be more friendly and helpful, and they got to know us personally as the week progressed. The menu offered in the restaurant and is a little narrow in range, but perfectly adequate. Evening meals are well-prepared and the breakfast range copious.
The hotel is well situated for visiting the Scrovegni chapel, the cathedral and the city centre (about 15 minutes walk to each), and is about 300 metres from the railway station. An underground car-park is offered to those with their own transport.
We should certainly return to the Al Cason, and would be surprised to hear if visitors did not enjoy their stay there.

A functional hotel located between a main road and train station. Yet it will be the noise from room next door which will keep you awake and not trains or cars. Walls are paper thin!

Bathroom clean but literally zero shower power and we stayed on 1st floor.

Breakfast – excellent for those who love nutella and sugar on everything:) The others have to do with 2 choices of cold cuts and cheese.
+ A walking distance from medieval part of the town and train station, free parking, price
- noise from next door, water pressure

Loved it! Although it is not located inside the medieval area it is at walking distance to it and the rail station. The hosts are very friendly and speak several languages.

...and actually we were pleasantly surprised by Padua too!

We stayed 2 nights and spent the first afternoon exploring beautiful Padua, & had an exhausting second day in Venice. Getting there couldn't have been easier since the hotel is an easy 5 min walk from the railway station, & the train takes between 25-40 mins.

We had a lovely welcome from the proprietor who allowed us to check in early. The room was small but quiet, comfortable, secure & with a nice bathroom. The breakfast was particularly good - exactly what you need to set yourself up for a long day of sightseeing. And we were able to relax in the evening with a bottle of wine in our room.

Single female travelers - the walk back from the station at 11pm didn't feel very safe due to the groups of young men loitering around on street corners. But in the day time we felt perfectly save.

Padua is the perfect place from which to do all manner of sightseeing, & we shall definately be back.

Stayed two nights to allow us to take the train to Venice to spend a day there. Proximilty to the train station and other favorable reviews helped us make this choice. Found the hotel exactly as described. The first room we were given reeked of cigarette smoke but there was not problem getting it changed. Room was clean and comfortable, typical size for Italy. I loved the bathroom heater. Quieter than expected given the location and if your are traveling by car the free parking across the street is a real plus.

Staff was friendly and helpful and breakfast was more than adequete and among the best we experienced in Italy. At first glance the location appears a bit dicey but we walked back from the train station late and had no issues.
