We needed somewhere close to the railway station and to the Scrovegni Chapel (just across the street from the railway station, and maybe 10 minutes to the Chapel), for which this place is just perfect. it is also thoughtfully managed, with kind and courteous staff; has clean, comfortable, freshly decorated - if perhaps not exciting - rooms with attached bathrooms with bathtubs and plenteous hotwater, and provides a fabulously generous breakfast - (ask for espresso if the 'Americano' coffee provided doesn't suit, and they will make it gladly and happily) - with the added joy of market-fresh cherries. We really liked it - and don't trouble about the 'newly arrived Italians' - and they will surely not trouble you. Indeed, smile at them, and they will perhaps return the smile.

Have to start by saying the breakfast was probably one of the best in Italy in this level of hotel.

Location is across the railway station, which is great if that's how you arrive. For walking into the city it's only 10 minutes but you're walking in a very foreign area with lots of newly arrived Italians.

The room had high ceilings and was quite average. Clean, though.

Elevators were straight from the 80s, though, including the music.

Night clerk did not speak English.

This was the best hotel we stayed in during many weeks wandering round Italy. It was just across from the station and while the area attracted young male ex- pats with nothing to do all day, we were reassured by the hotel's CCTV system. Our room and bathroom were spacious, light and clean as was the whole hotel. Breakfast was great and the staff were friendly, helpful and polite. My friend found it noisy at night and in the morning as we had the window open, but my earplugs did a great job.

This hotel is just across the street from the train station and is very convenient for train travelers. It is clean and comfortable and the staff is friendly and helpful. It is a short walk to the city center.

Room tip: Room 210 has a balcony overlooking the plaza of the train station.

With newly redecorated rooms that are goodly sized and high-ceilinged, helpful staff, a wonderful breakfast,a location 1 minute from the train station and 5 minutes from Scrovegni Chapel, reasonable prices, and a very short train ride to Venice, you can have it all at the Grand'Italia,
Our room was clean, new, well-furnished and beautifully designed. Staff will acquaint you with Padova's sights on a map before you go out the door. Breakfast included fruits, patisserie, cereals, meats, cheeses, eggs, and more.
One proviso: during non-working hours, foreign workers congregate in front of internet phone and money transfer stores in the first block or so leading to the center. You are safe there, but if you prefer to avoid the people on the sidewalk, simply cross the street and walk to town on that side.
Padova is a gem of an Italian city well-worth a visit. In fact, being so very close to Venice, you can access Venice in minutes by train, returning to Padova in the evening to enjoy a terrific hotel and uninflated prices at restaurants on Padova's large piazze.
