“Original cuisine”
Reviewed August 25, 2011

We had heard about this place several times so we booked there for our anniversary. The decor is elegant but a bit cold. Our server was very keen to explain various dishes and really took care to suggest a complete meal with proper accompanying wine. I did enjoy the meal but found the whole thing a little too abundant in deep fried items, which we normally try to avoid. I must say though, that this was not the exceedingly greasy and salty deep fried, but rather more subtle and delicious. I would certainly go back there but next time would be more specific about the cooking method. All in all, a nice experience.

“Troppo Sale!!”
Reviewed June 10, 2011

We could not eat our meal because it was much too salty. We sent it back and were charged much too much for a bad experience. We ordered several things that had Baccala and after the first was inedible because it was too salty, we asked about the second dish and were told it was not salty. It wasin fact so salty that we could not eat one bite. The prices in this restaurant were not consistent with the quality so if you are looking for good food at a reasonable price, stay away. The owner was simpatica and even offered to pay for our desserts. Unfortunately the Italian custom is to charge the customer even if the dish is not eaten and sent back.

“Excellent”

We had a lovely dinner in a great atmosphere. The fish dishes are an excellent combination of good quality ingredients and modern inspired italian recipies.
The service is very professional and friendly.
Definitely recommendable.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed October 16, 2010

After reading the glowing reviews about this restaurant, we decided to try it. The cuisine belongs to the large plate/small food genre, i.e. nouvelle cousine, as opposed to the traditional Italian cousine. This is not a bad thing as some variety from traditional Italian dishes is refreshing but dishes we had here were very ordinary. We started with a plate of thinly sliced smoked tuna, pickled baby artichokes, and greens (chicory?). The tuna was tasty but the artichokes had very little flavor the greens were....greens. There was some balsamic vinegar drizzled around the extremities of the plate for presentation which when combined with the rest of the dish, gave it some needed taste. We followed this with the Italian black rice, lobster, and spinach. Any of the subtle flavors of this dish where overwhelmed by the amount of salt used. For dessert we had a fruit macedonia with vanilla ice cream warmed and served in paper. I would have liked the ice cream to have been added after the warming but this wasn't the case so it ended up to be a few rather sad pieces of fruit in a sickly sweet bath.

Overall my friend (Italian) and I (American) felt this restaurant overrated. Perhaps there has been a change in the kitchen recently???
