“Best Location for visiting Basilica and old center”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2012

Can't get any closer - literally across the street from the Basilica. Great location to see all sights, most within walking distance. Even convenient if taking day trip to Venice though you'll want to take the bus to reach train station. Very clean basic rooms. Upon request we got even a better family room in a more updated building building behind the main hotel with modern furniture and lcd TV and incredibly spacious, updated bathrooms. Free internet, parking. Fantastic staff and service -very kind and helpful. Restaurant next door (same name, but independently operated from hotel I believe) is very convenient and serves very good meals at reasonable prices. Coffee/breakfast shop also great coffee/dolci for breakfast though not included in room rate. Hotel offers good buffet breakfast add-on for reasonable price if wanted. Very good gelato ("Friso") a few doors down the street. Possible to arrange airport shuttle service to Venice airport. Highly recommend Hotel Padova Casa del Pellegrino.

The man on reception was very helpful. We payed 70 euroes for room. It was airconditioned, with simple furniture. We had one window from which we could see the bell tower from a church. We missed breakfast which was included in the price. There was a small common room with italian magazines and books in english near the reception. The room was clean but shower had a plastic curtain which did not reach the bottom and it did not take long before it was flooded. We only wished we were placed in the main building which looked nicer. In my opinion we over paid the room.

Room Tip: Stay in main building.

Very good service, bath totally clean. Excelent towels and bedsheets. we spent 2 nights and it was very nice. excelente location if you are going to visit St Anthony´s Cathedral.
we stayed at a 2 twin bed room , beds were really small, i think smaller than the normal twin size. I am not sure about it maybe because i am not used to small beds.
Breakfast was great, eggs, fruits, bread, yogurt, it was totally ok.

An atheist from my teens, I am nevertherless a product of a heathily devout Irish Catholic nest whose family patron saint is Anthony, so a visit ot Venice and Milano would not have been complete without a stop-over in Padua.

As the journey was only meant to be symbolic, I hadn't intended to stay overnight, but a walk from the station to the Basilica of St Anthony made me realise that Padua deserved more than 4 hours of my not-so-precious time.

Having visited the basilica in the early evening I looked around for a hotel. The first hotel I tried was full but the receptionist suggested I try the Casa. They had a single available in the "dependenzia" (annex) and the price was extremely attractive for a single. The receptionist's English was beautifully quaint and precise, by the way.

I was totally bowled over by the lobby of the dependenzia! A huge space, unmanned but beautifully decorated with a large porcelain leopard in the middle of the lobby. Ars gratia artem!

The room was big for a single (yep, it was a real single with a single bed!) Well decorated, light, airy with large windows and a view of an ancient university building on quite back-street with virtually no traffic.

The furniture was new-ish and the bed was extremely comfortable. Bathroom was compact and spotless and contained plenty of towels and bathroom "attritbutes" TV was a small plasma-screen model and the choice of international stations was more than adequate

Slept like a log and opted to take the breakfast, not included in the room price but well worth the 7 euros extra. Mind you, when they say "breakfast is served till 10 o'clock", they mean exactly that.

A perfect hostelry for a pilgrim, even an atheist pilgrim.

My wife and I stayed in a double with bath for 75 euro for two nights, Oct 3-4. The room was spacious by European standards and very clean. I found it much better than previous reviews indicated. The front desk gentlemen were very helpful--even aiding us with an IPAD problem. The front desk also provides small refreshments--a nice little pot of tea was neat. There is a nice restaurant around the street called Pago Pago restaurant; we thought that it was one of Rick Steves best restaurant recommendations on our trip.
We also did not experience any noise from other rooms; a similar religious house in Siena that we used a week later had terrible late night parties--I suppose the noise factor is mainly luck. In sum, I would definitely recommend this casa.

The hotel is in a great location. A little overpriced for the lack of comfort and no breakfast. The wireless worked on and off. The staff was great and speaks all kinds of languages fluently. Our entire family suffered from bed bug bites. We thought that they were "Italien" mosquito bites until after we left.

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view onto the Basilica of San Antonio

Dear Ms. "Redpaint",

I'm very sorry and surprised about what you wrote on our Hotel.
According to our customers opinions, one of our best performances is the cleanliness!
What I am wondering is why you did not tell us immediately?!! We would have much appreceated to be aware of such a kind of problem at the beginning. We could have checked at ones, given you a different room and disinfected the mattresses to avoid next customer gets the same bad esperience! This is first in our interest and probably is also the most helpful and fare behaviour towards people reading your reports.
As you have seen, in our property there's a garden with tall trees + a small wood behind the north fence belonging to our neighbours. Green areas, as we all know, bring especially in summer, insects, mosquitos and bugs.
It's really a shame, dear "Ms. Redpaint", that now it's too late to have the pleasure and help you with an upgrading (junior suite), a compensation (free dinner for all family) or a discount on the total bill.
Finally, I dare to suggest you and all travelling people to communicate as more as possible if they are not satisfied of something, because the solution of a disappointing situation is ofter closer than espected. This is the best way to make hotels improoving their services and also to help people coming after you.
Kindest regards.
Daniela Zuanon

Hotel Casa del Pellegrino is a hotel with a rich history in a beautiful location that has kept up with the most modern demands of current travellers. The staff is friendly, courteous and the hotel rooms are very clean and well maintained (and for those US/Canadian travellers out there, it has AC!). I did not visit their restaurant, but their bar (front of the building) has excellent espresso's and a quick snack/breakfast for a very decent price. Most recommended.
