“extremely well run , friendly yet efficient family hotel”
Reviewed March 23, 2009

Juts returned from a weeks skiing in Courmayeur staying at the Cresta et Duc. The staff were helpful and changed our room with great grace to one with a balcony. Rooms were very clean with towels often changed twice a day. Breakfast offered a wide range of options and the four course evening meal was well presented if not a little over zealous with the veal! Service was very efficient (at times even a littel over eager!) but the staff were so friendly and helpful , the rooms excellent for this star rated hotel and the location superb just off Via Roma and but a few minutes walk to the skilift... a definite bonus after a day on the piste. I would most definitely use this hotel again and having stayed in this resort on previous ocassions this was by far the best hotel to date

Just returned from Cresta et Duc 15 Feb 09. We were party of 9 aged 8 to adult. The hotel is newly renovated and in lovely condition. 3/4 minute walk to gondola but we hired ski's and boots at top of mountain which was great, it meant the walk to the gondola was in snow boots and no carrying of skis. Hotel is very conveniant for shops, bars etc.
Food in the hotel was very good and they had no problem providing whatever the kids wanted. Management and staff could not be friendlier. We would definitely recommend this hotel. Best value for money ski holiday we have had in along time.

This small hotel was the perfect place for a family ski holiday for the New YEar period. The staff were really friendly. We have a two year old who ran about under the waiters feet at night (he did not have the staying stamina of italian two year olds who seem genetically programmed to sit for hours at the table) and NEVER once did a waiter ask us to keep him in check 'for his own safety' as they might at home in ireland! the new years party was excellent with all the staff joining in the celebrations (clearly they had been keeping up in the kitchen and were in top form!) - they really know how to celebrate. anyway, top marks for friendliness. the hotel is nice, the town is gorgeous - lovely pediastrian main street, good pubs (expensive!). good ski-ing (though nearby la thuile is much better for vairiety and number of slopes, though the town is not a patch on courmayeur).

I took a skiing group of 18 people to Courmayeur and stayed at the Cresta et Duc. We stayed there 8 years ago and returned to the same hotel. The newly renovated hotel was awesome as is the new spa. Alessandro, the new owner was very attentative as was the rest of the staff. especially Johnny, Sarah and Liza. The food was delicious and the breakfast is typical European. Everyone was pleased with their accommodations and food. The hotel is a bit hot so make sure you don't wear heavy sweaters for dinner in the hotel.

just returned from a 4 night stay here with 7 other girls. We were allocated 4 rooms overlooking the road on the 2nd floor. Each was very clean & had 2 twin beds, a wardrobe, safe, minibar & smallish shower room. This was decorated in lovely travertine Italian tiles with a basin, loo, bidet & shower unit. It also had a decent hairdryer attached to the wall. Toiletries were 2 soaps, 2 shower gels (smelt lovely) & shower cap. These were not replaced when used, however towels were replaced daily. There was an evening turn down service. The floor in the bedroom was wooden & there was a reasonable sized balcony. It was quite hot in the rooms & if you slept with the window open a bit noisy with traffic. Extra pillows were promptly bought to the room when asked for. Breakfast was continental with cereals, yoghurt, croissants & cake, cheese, ham, salami, jam, chocolate spread, crusty rolls, DIY boiled eggs (remember to add minutes for altitude when boiling). Coffee / tea was bought to the table in jugs with either cold milk or a large jug of frothy milk. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evenings but front desk booked us meals in some lovely restaurants -thankyou (Pierre Alexis, Cadran solaire, le Tunnel pizzeria, pizza & steak house). It was a short walk (about 4 mins) to the cable car where you arrive at the main ski area for ski school, further lifts & ski hire. The hotel gave us 10% discount on ski hire & we were able to leave our gear overnight at the shop which made it easy. It is about a 30 second walk to Via Roma the main pedestrianised street for shopping. Downstairs there is a spa area with hot tub, sauna, steam room & showers. Skiing in Courmayeur is a bit limited for advanced intermediates (especially if you come for a full week). I would also say it is not ideal for beginners due to the lack of green & blue slopes. A few of our group had excellent lessons with ski school mont blanc. We found some excellent mountain restaurants - Petit mont blanc at the bottom of zerotta chair for suckling pig BBQ & pasta (look out for the enthusiastic waitress - everything is fantastico very very good), Maison Vieille at the top of the chair of the same name is a rustic climbing hut which serves wonderful homemade pasta & gnocchi (look out for the halloween masks & hats) & snack bar at Lago Checrout which does amazing hot chocolates, coffee with amaretto/ grappa & freshly squeezed orange juice. Apres ski was best at Bar Roma & we particularly liked the free Tapas on offer although at 10 euros for a G&T I guess it wasn't free!!

I just returned from a week in Courmayeur as the trip leader of a group of 62 American skiers. The Hotel Cresta et Duc exceeded my expectations of what a small family owned hotel could be! The staff could not have been friendlier or tried harder to make us happy in any way they could. The three course meals we were served each night were excellent as well as the bountiful, buffet breakfast. They even opened breakfast at 3AM the morning of our early departure to accomodate us, which was quite unexpected. I was surprised to find out that they are soon closing until Dec.2007 for a total renovation which will include a health and fitness center. With its great location near the center of town and the gondola, this will make the Hotel Cresta et Duc the best bet in town!
