This was our first Club Med experience, but we were left a little disappointed. Our children are 4 & 6 and my nieces are 7 & 9 and I don't feel that the concept works for this age group.
The main problem was the timings- the information talked about children's tea at 5pm, however this was a sweet snack (pancakes and Nutella etc) rather than a savoury supper. The restaurant then opened at 7pm (our children are usually in bed by then). The children were over tired and hangry by this time. As a result we were not able to sit down and enjoy a grown up supper. We planned to feed children at 5pm, get them to bed and then eat together later. Also the evening show that the 6/7 yr old were involved in STARTED at 9.15pm and finished at 10pm with sugary snacks, drinks and a disco! This is just not practical when you have to wake them at 7.30am to go for breakfast.

Ski school was tricky too. All children had to be in the bar in FULL ski gear by 8.45am, but as everyone has to be bussed to the lifts (in 8 seat minibuses which are very old and tatty) the children would often still be waiting to leave the hotel at 9.45am. The children all enjoyed the skiing and progressed well.

The hotel staff were friendly, but the reception staff were not able to answer the most basic questions- the location of the inclusive mountain restaurants (one was good, the other was dreadful), or the prices in the spa etc.

Also on check out our bags were not collected from our room (a 5 min walk from reception) thankfully we noticed before getting on the bus.

We had a problem with my son one night and had to call an ambulance. The night porter was great at translating for the paramedics etc, but there was no follow up from the hotel staff to see how he was etc the following day....

The hotel is looking very tired and rundown- cracked tiles on the bathroom floor, broken hairdryer cracked sink etc (no excuse for the first week of the season) and our room was not hoovered all week. Cleaning was very minimal. All in all I was disappointed and won't be rushing back.

We thought that we would splash out on an all inclusive holiday to enjoy our 50th birthdays! Reading previous reviews I was conscious of the statements about how "tired" the hotel looked?! I have to say that I would agree with those comments. There are plenty of positives from this holiday as well.
On arrival at Turin Airport we were ushered to our coach where we sat for 45 minutes waiting for information about what would happen next. Two members of staff came onto our bus separately did a head count and checked details of passengers whilst waiting around. I deduced that they were waiting for the other Gatwick flight which departed 30 minutes after us? If only someone would have given us the information?! I may be wrong?
Travel to Cervinia was fine and we were greeted by enthusiastic staff members and ushered inside.
Our three bedrooms were all next to each other which helped. Beds and pillows could have been better, our lock for the toilet was broken (4316).
We opted to rent our ski equipment from a shop in the village as they were a lot cheaper than ClubMed. The ski lockers were a real bonus with plenty of room to sort yourself out prior to and returning from skiing. A real bonus was the three mini buses which shuttled everybody to and from the slopes throughout the day, this was an efficient service. Instructors were really helpful but most enjoyed a liquid lunch. There are two restaurants which provide free lunch, wine included but not beer or soft drinks. These are booked by the instructors or you have the option to return to the hotel. We also ate at other mountain restaurants but the instructors tab was also passed onto the guests which was annoying?! Plenty of opportunity to go to Zermatt weather dependent, which was picturesque, I will never forget The Matterhorn which didn't fail to impress.
Apres-ski was nice and relaxed with plenty of staff on hand to serve customer's needs. Food was really nice and there was plenty of choice with the waiting staff quick and efficient.
Overall I would say a value for money holiday which was thoroughly enjoyed by our family.

This Club Med is by far one of the worst in the Alps. It is very old. My room had no access to Wi-Fi. The people at the reception were not very welcoming but the entertainers were very nice and fun. The food was very good and sophisticated but many people were food poisoned. Overall, good but some things have to change.

Apart from the very obvious gastric bug going round the hotel and bringing most families down in one way or another, it was a fabulous week.
Yes the hotel is in need of some renovation and modernisation, and there is a slight smell of toilets on the ground floor, masked only by the smell of cigarettes coming into the building from the smoking room.
However, the food is great, the atmosphere is great, Boris the Chef du Village is great, the bar was superb - they all work so hard to keep you happy.
The resort of Cervinia both on the Italian and Swiss side is superb. But we did have a fabulous week of wall to wall sunshine and hardly any wind.
The departure to slopes service in the morning is well run with small buses taking you to the lifts every few minutes.
The food was excellent in most cases, but I would always recommend going for the freshly made dishes - I was the only one not to get the gastric bug. The staff in the dining room are so lovely as were all of the Italians - so warm and welcoming.
The ski lessons were more like ski guiding - not alot of teaching going on, but who cares - we loved our teacher Paulo Bich - who showed us all that Cervinia had to offer. It was clear how proud he is of his lifetime home and described and explained loads of things to us - even saw mountain goats pointed out by him.
The following staff get a special mention for making our holiday that litte bit more special
Boris - Chef du Village - his Queen night was hysterical
Mike the DJ - always there entertaining us
Michael and Jeremy in entertainment - such enthusiasm
Gabriele Pronesti - chef team
Doli - kids club
Matthieu, Miriam, Francesca, Jonathan, Kyprian
Judith - salsa trainer
We would definitely go back but we've got too many other lovely Club Med resorts to visit.

My family and another (8 people) had booked Club Med Cervinia Many months in advance, excitedly counting the days to our holiday. By Day 3 we were counting the days to get out of the place!

Either a stomach flu or food poisoning ripped through the restaurant and 3 of our 8, as well as many others fell extremely sick. Having informed the staff, Club Med ignored the problem and treated it as though it was an isolated incident, despite almost everyone we met having a person in their groups falling ill.

This is no surprise really, as the place smelled of sewer and was constantly dirty. The toilets at the base of the stairs to the restaurant and the main communal bar area, had no doors, or were never closed, and a pungent smell constantly emanated throughout the ground floor area.

The day spa which is so well advertised in this ‘all inclusive’ holiday is also an additional charge and offers only a sauna and Hammam.

Ski lessons were a joke with our instructor being left with 14 people in our group, and a range of abilities that did not allow him to teach or assist at all. Instead of rectifying the issue however, he simply had a hissy-fit and whinged about the group, telling everyone they weren’t good enough to be in his group and basically throwing in the towel.

Ski lessons for the kids was just as bad, with no instruction being provided. Kids were told to follow in line and were yelled at by instructors if they didn’t. No coaching or instruction, just child minding on skis.

The rooms are old and tired and the bathrooms and showers in particular, are tiny. Wash your hair and risk breaking your elbows on the wall and glass shower enclosure.

The linen and pillows were quite possibly ex-WW2 surplus.

The attraction of Club Med was an all-inclusive holiday with a variety of food and choice. It simply wasn’t so for us and many others during our stay. Once recovered from the stomach bug, my family had to eat out in town each night, to be safe. That in itself isn’t easy as the hotel is up on the hill, and the ‘shuttle service’ stops running at 650pm each night. The walk back up is OK except the road is narrow and there are no footpaths, so you’re quite at risk of being hit by a van or snow plough.

Club Med Cervinia is ready for demolition - it is not up to 2020 hotel standards and wouldn’t be rated 1 star in my opinion. Save your money - and your health and go elsewhere.
