Stayed in a double room facing the slopes for the first week in Feb.
When we arrived at the hotel/our room, we were nicely surprised about how nice it was. Reception staff upon arrival (mother and daughter) were very nice and friendly. Room was large, with lots of storage space. Bathroom new, clean and modern, although with my husband being 6ft 4inches tall, the fact the bathroom did not have a proper shower or full size bath was a bit of a sticking point...it had a half bath and a hand held shower.
Another small slightly annoying point was that we were woken up every morning at 5.30am, with the beeping from the vehicle clearing snow from the car parks located just to the back of the hotel....I think the front facing rooms would be quieter.
Now on to the food....
Breakfast was ok, with a pretty good selection, although the only hot food served was toast! I did not mind as the croissants and cereal were great!
Evening meal was appalling...how the hotel gets away with it is beyond me. You would get your choices at breakfast, but we would dread all day what they would actually taste like! The pasta course was probably the best, although I would have expected they would come with lovely Italian sauces, this was not the case, instead the sauces were bland and tasteless. The main course would general be a slice or 2 of meat and some potatoes, and the desert was always a tasteless chocolate something.
Needless to say by day 2, we eat out everyday at lunchtime and then the poor evening meal would not bother us too much. NB: The mountain restaurants are fantastic, the best I have ever been to when skiing, especially Chalet Etoile. The pasta dishes here were reasonably priced for what you got and tasted fantastic!
Would I stay here again...yes, as great friendly staff, hotel has been newly refurbished and rooms are nice and large, and it is only 10 metres away from the main lift. I would suggest not staying on a half board basis, as the cost of the evening meal is better spent somewhere else.
