“An excellent 2* Italian hotel.”
Reviewed March 22, 2012

Friendly, confortable, clean, central and reasonably priced. What more could you want.

It's a 2* hotel, however. So don't expect the latest interior design and a 17 course breakfast.

Only one compliant, the quality of the coffee at breakfast fell far below what you'd expect for even the roughest Italian petrol station. You can do better!

Room Tip: There's a "new block". Stay there.

Wife and I stayed here for one week - booked at short notice with Inghams - we were impressed with Inghams reps, transfers etc (albeit a long transfer from Geneva).
Location is great - you can ski to within 80metres of hotel and walk to nearest lift is probably around 250m. Hotel is in main street.
We had good room on third floor and north facing so did have partial view of the Matterhorn. Room was very clean reasonably spacious and cleaned daily - pretty spotless. bathroom fine though arguably a little dated - we understand rooms on other side of hotel have been updated already and more work is planned. Beds very comfortable.
Food was fine - though if you are on picky side you may be disappointed. I agree with previous reviewer. Breakfasts are a good continental breakfast with wide range of choices (but all cold) - but enough to give you a good days start and including cereal, various breads and spreads and cheese/ham etc and always a bowl of fruit around.
Evenings meals were varied - choice of 3 starters (always including a pasta (usually very tasty) and a soup, one main course (with cold option and/or omelette) - quite a bit of veal during our week - and served with potato/veg (the latter too often over-cooked). Dessert was choice of a pudding, ice-cream or fruit. Highlight of week was tiramisu (superb) - all in all satisfying but clearly not 4 * but you get what you pay for. I should also have added there was also a variety of salads everynight to help yourself too and rolls etc - so no excuses for being hungry.
Service in hotel overall from reception through to waiters was excellent - and made the week particularly enjoyable - everyone had a smile, and a bit of banter. You pay for your drinks/wine etc on a nightly basis. Receptionist also allowed us to print out some important documents while we were there - always very helpful.
Overall - great location, good service and ambiance, and food okay.
I wouldn't complain about ski locker area - hotel was pretty full last week - and they do have a nice sitting area where you can put your boots on - we were normally last down the mountain after 5.00pm and never had a problem with a space for our skiis.
Yes - we would return.

Room Tip: Rooms on north side on third floor and above may get views of the Matterhorn

It is only a few minutes to the lift and Inghams' ski hire shop. And it is even nearer to ski back to the hotel, This is the closest you can get to ski-in and out.

This hotel has good reviews for food so this raised our expectations, and consequently set us up for disappointment. The food is fine, but not great. There is good choice at breakfast and different hot food on offer each morning. Coffee machine is offered instead of fresh coffee, so a huge MINUS for me. They do try to be interesting with their dinner and carve roast pork joints in the restaurant, but the general consensus is that the food is just fine. Vegetarian choices is poor, almost omelettes everyday.

Staff are pleasant and helpful, and engaging in conversation. There is a good ambiance in the restaurant and hotel.

The rooms are pleasant and while you have a bath, you can't hang the shower so showering is abit incumbersome.

The ski room is so small, just a corridor really so if you are late back, There is no room to put your skis. We are ski-ing in March so what is it like in high season?

Room Tip: No great views so it doesn't really matter.

The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and the food is of a decent level (evening meals better than the breakfast). Keep in mind it's a two star hotel, the rooms are basic but comfortable enough to sleep well in (especially after a long day's skiing).

The hotel is very close to the Cretaz chair lift, and there are various bars near by also.

The one strange aspect of our stay was that all bought drinks with the evening meal were paid for on each evening. It may have made life simpler to be able to charge them to the room and settle at check-out.

stayed here for a weeks skiing with inghams and chose the hotel after some of the good reviews on trip advisor. I have to say that these raised expectations so we were actually a little bit disappointed. The hotel is 2* and pretty basic in ALL aspects. The food is just about acceptable and reasonably plentiful but certainly not "delicious". The hotel owners and staff were however very friendly and couldn't be faulted. Liking a nice HOT bath after a hard days skiing my only other real gripe was that I was dissapointed to find the water each night only just hot enough. All this said though, talking to other inghams guests in resort it sounded like our 2* hotel was actually better than some of the 3* hotels! Location couldn't be faulted either as the hotel is close to the Cretaz chair lift and it was possible to ski back to within ~50m

Excellent location for the Cretaz chairlift. I guess this is what you pay for. A bit of a uphill walk to the gondola which takes you to Plan Maison, so we didn’t bother. You could get everywhere from the Cretaz lift.

Our room however was disappointing. We had a Standard room which was very basic, no TV (apparently only superior rooms have a TV). We had a shared balcony. The bathroom was small and the layout awkward (had to sit sideways on the toilet!).

The breakfast was ok (nice coffee), no hot breakfast options, which we knew already.

The evening meals and waiting staff were excellent (food good and plentiful). The salad buffet was basic, but you didn’t really need it!

The staff were all helpful, but you had to ask. Would have been nice to be told when we checked in, about the free WIFI and sitting room on the first floor (we were on 4th floor, so generally used the lift).

Also, there wasn’t really a bar. There was a counter with drinks behind, but nobody manned it, and I wouldn’t say there was a bar area; there were dining chairs and tables to sit at or the reception area.

Room Tip: Book a superior room!

My family of four spent two weeks at this lovely family-run hotel in Cervinia, Italy. The Hotel is situated on the main street, so is very central. With lots of snow, you can ski back home, at the most it is a 30m walk home. To the lifts, the walk is about 100m, so it is very conveniently situated. The rooms are comfortable, with lovely views of the mountains. A three course meal is served every night, with a choice of three starters, mains and dessert. The food was delicious, and plentiful. The service was excellent, with most of the family involved, in fact, we became friends with the owners, who were most helpful, and were able to offer us any advice we needed. I would highly recommend this hotel, and would love to return one day
