Owner description: An infinite snowy area that begins at 1,524 metres, in Valtournenche, embraces Breuil-Cervinia, rises up to 3,480 metres of Plateau Rosà, touches the 4,000 m peak of Piccolo Cervino, climbes up to 4,478 m to the top of the Cervino. An area where the infinite snow continues on the Swiss side to Zermatt. An area where the snow is the setting of sport, holidays and fun. The tourism vocation of Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche had it’s beginning more than two hundred years ago. Excursionists and academics were the pioneers of a tourism that united sport, scientific study and intellectual exchange. In 1936, a new Breuil-Cervinia was created. The construction of the first cable car was a cutting-edge work of engineering excellence. The Hotel Gran Baita situated at the foot of the slopes, with the cable car departure station annexed to it, anticipates by over half a century the concept of an integral complex for skiing. Breuil-Cervinia became the Queen of the snow. From sport to cinema, politics and commerce, those who count meet here. Innovation, in Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche, is the key word. New ways to practice sport, new ways to enjoy a holiday, new services to allow more free time. The technology is not limited to the rapid lift systems, but also to the territorial fibre optic network that allows the information to be transmitted in real time. Time and space dimensions have changed thanks to the e-skipass, to the keycard and to the hotel reservation system via the internet. 350 thousands web navigators every month visiting the site to check out the webcams, weather reports, lift status and snow conditions. In Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche, collaboration between the operators in the area guarantees guests quality and state of the art solutions.

“excellent ski place”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

among largest ski domain with slopes for all levels (350km). Though the connection with Zermatt is not always working, the Italian domain is really nice and offers a large number of slopes. Pistes are well kept, with warm and traditional chalet spots.

“Great Resort For Begginer/Intermediate”
Reviewed December 17, 2012

Been to Cervinia for two seasons now and feel like theres still a lot more to see. The runs are very clearly marked and well looked after. A lot of the runs are very wide and there are very few trees or obsticals at the sides of the runs making it very safe for beginners to learn. The lifts are very well maintained and you are always close to a cafe etc to warm yourself up.

“Snow-sure, extensive and stunning scenery”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Cervinia's extensive ski area (linked with Zermatt) offers extensive, high altitude and visually spectacular skiing beneath the Matterhorn. With skiing between 2000m and 3400m it combines an impressive vertical drop with snow-sure height making it ideal for early or late season skiing (the lifts generally open at the start of November and close at the beginning of May). Additionally, using Cervinia as a base allows you to ski around Zermatt without having to endure Switzerland's eye-watering prices.

In general, the skiing is best suited to intermediate skiers with long rolling blue and red runs but there is more demanding skiing on the Zermatt-side of the mountain.

“Best skiing on the planet for most of us.”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Take the gondolas to the top and you can choose to ski back down through the clouds to Cervinia, turn left and race down to Zermatt on the Swiss side or take the 14 K run to Valtournanche. A blue run skiers paradise. For good food, fun and an absence of glitz and pretense, this is my favorite ski spot. With airfare, a week here is less than a week in Colorado for me, and IT'S Italy.
