Located a couple of km from Cervinia centre, but the hotel's shuttle bus gets you too and from the slopes very satisfactorily. Hotel is chalet style and has some nice features: comfortable reception rooms; log fire; ski gear room with boot warmers; a bar with a range of beers; perfectly adequate breakfast (fruits, yoghurt, rather cheap cereal, seeds, dry-as-dust breads, toaster, coffee machine and a very good egg boiler so you can avoid the usual rock-hard boiled egg).
However, the bedrooms are small, very old-fashioned and basic. Hard, sprung mattress, dingy carpet, pine wardrobes. Very 1970s and in urgent need of an upgrade. Bath had plenty of hot water,
Staff looked as though they had worked at the hotel far too long and were tired of serving clients with a smile. Service was acceptable but not the usual friendly and welcoming touch one expects in Italy.
For a hotel charging £200 per night towards the end of the high season, management should be giving better value than thisMore
