I have just returned from a week at the Dragon, From what I have read on trip advisor the Dragon Hotel has undergone changes over the years.

I have skied in a number of countries and resorts over the years and for me and the remainder of my party I can find no fault with the Dragon Hotel.

The management team where available at any time if you needed them and both the waitresses and bar staff where enthusiastic and friendly.

We were with Inghams and as such were part of a larger group from Inghams we did indeed have our own area in the bar for 30 mins per day pre dinner plus a resteraunt room for our exclusive use - this we paid for as part of the cost of our holiday.

The rooms were clean, warm and comfortable

The food was excellent to the point that on the one night we did eat out this meal was inferior to the hotel food and cost 60 euros per person.

The bar was lively between 16:00 and 19:00 post skiing and particularly on the evening when live music was available.

Its location and food make this for us the best hotel with the best skiing we have ever had. We would return to holiday again - something we have never done before.

Room Tip: There are 4 of the 12 rooms that have balconies which face the slopes - if you can influence the sel...

We have just returned from a week at the Dragon. The accommodation is basic but clean and very well run. It is a combination of hotel/chalet run by Inghams staff and has an adjoining bar/pub which is very lively around the 4:30 - 7pm time slots. The manager (Gianluca) is very aware that some guests don't want to be bothered by noise and goes out of his way to ensure that noise levels from the bar are kept to the absolute minimum.

We did not have a particularly great week weather-wise with Cervinia bing virtually closed down for 2 days but the manager and his assistant did everything in their power to try and secure alternative skiing by phoning round, booking taxis etc. This was very much appreciated.

Gianluca and all his staff were attentive and committed to making our stay there as enjoyable as possible.

The accommodation is quite basic but we expected this. We were in room 8 and this is advertised in the brochure as compact and it was. So is room 2. Again, we expected this so there was no problem. I would say, the walls are thin and banging doors echo through the corridors - its a pity some other guests were no where near as courteous as the staff that run the place - shame on you room 9 and your brood on the lower floor.

Finally, the position of the Dragon in relation to the town centre and ski lifts make this a very convenient place to stay.

We would return on the basis that it is convenient, very well run and homely.

Room Tip: Rooms 2 & 8 are small

Used to be a great friendly bar, now Inghams have their clutch it's overpriced and you aren't welcome if you're not an Inghams guest. Will never return after 6 years of visiting. Don't bother if you are just a visitor wanting a drink.... Bad attitude with no sense of customer service

Excellent value for money opposite ski lift with easy descent at end of the day. Hotel is clean and well run by the manager and his helpful team. Inghams have looked for what you want for a skiing holiday, location - v close to lift, ample good food, lively bar but peace when you want it, excellent ski guide (Thanks Terri but we call you Teddy) value for money and have given it to you. Excellent snow and great views. Good entertainment too that kept our 20 to 50 plus group all well satisfied!

Went with Inghams looking for cheap holiday with good skiing. Got both. The Dragon does the basics - ok food, decent rooms and a good bar. It's run by really friendly people and the manager Gianluca is a gentleman and a source of fantastic inside info on where to ski. I'd definitely go back.

We went in April 2012 - snowboarding father and son.

Location: Just across the road from the Cretaz chairlift (with a lift pass office) and very close to ski hore stores if you need them - could hardly be more convenient

Accommodation: Small chalet hotel - 12 rooms or so attached to a pub/bar. Separated dining area for hotel guests. Rooms not especially spacious but big enough, and ours had a very good en suite bathroom. Warm and clean.

Food: Exceptional for this kind of hotel. We happen to be vegetarian and the options (provided without any fuss) were very imaginative and tasty. The meat-eaters told us that their meals were equally good. Free wine, pre-dinner canapés, post-dinner chocolates. Very good value.

Staff: The hotel manager (Italian) and assistant manager (English) were very friendly and helpful. The other staff (English mainly) were a bit less forthcoming, but it was at the end of a long season.

Ski room: In the basement, not much room (certainly not for snowboards) and not space enough or heat enough to dry out boots. But it was adequate.

The Band! A live band appeared on the deck most afternoons and had a two hour plus set during which they covered an eclectic selection which ranged from Katrina and the Waves to AC/DC. They mangled most of them but what they lacked in musical virtuosity they made up for with enthusiasm and it gave the place a lot of atmosphere and was fun. The noise was not really an issue and even when they came back in the evening to play in the basement it didn't stop us from getting to sleep (we were there more for the boarding than for the après-ski)

In summary: A great little hotel to which we hope to return next season.
