A chance booking as we had booked at Hotel Cecchin, which had to cancel due to family illness, led us to stay just one night at the Maison Colombot. It's relatively unpromising to start with, and the accommodation comprises of the large block at the western end of the pedestrianised via Edouard Aubert, and thus exceedingly convenient for access to the old town and all the shops and eateries. The business comprises also of an antiques shop and as a whole is run by the Martinet family, the delightful Cinzia runs the b&b side. You have to ring an intercom on the wall and are led around the back through an untidy yard but then enter into this delightfully appointed and spacious building, large comfortable room(s) with good fittings and free internet supplied. So far so good, but the best, as previous reviewers have pointed out is the breakfast which, due to all the choices of lovely and lovingly home-made delicacies will tempt you to eat too much. If you drive here, there is a free carpark which is about 5 minutes walk away, but you can drive to the Colombot and unload just outside.

Just returned home from my wonderful trip to Aosta, Italy. During my visit I stayed at this wonderful Maison Colombot for 5 nights. My single room is small but comfortable and clean. I'm so thriled that there is a coffee/tea maker in the room that I can make myself a cup of hot drink at night. It is not common in the European B&Bs or even small hotels. The internet connection in the room is free and the speed is fast. The host Cinzia is a wonderful kind lady. Every morning she made me different kind of foods for breakfast. The location is great. The main street is just around the corner and about 10 minutes walk to the train and bus stations. If I go to Aosta again in future, I wouldn't stay at any other place but Maison Colombot.

I've both traveled and lived in Italy and find that many hotels and B and Bs don't provide good value for money. Staff can be rude, places cramped or unclean, and breakfast is often paltry.

I strongly recommend staying at Maison Colombot if you're visiting Aosta. It's a small quiet place tucked away off a courtyard at the edge of the old center. Cinzia, the host, is amazingly friendly, takes time to engage and answer questions, and can give good recommendations for places to eat outside the tourist center. She's obviously taken care in making the rooms comfortable and clean and spent time providing amenities guests from the U.S. and Canada might expect from a small B and B. There is highspeed internet and unlike some places in Italy, you don't have to pay for it.

The location is very convenient for strolling around town and only a ten minute walk from the bus and train stations.

Finally, the breakfast. I like to eat and it's one of the reasons I appreciate Italy. In a country where most people have a cornetto and caffe, breakfast in many B and Bs is an afterthought, sometimes consisting of plastic-wrapped croissants, jam packets, and sliced white bread. Cinzia puts out an amazing breakfast for her guests, including a number of home-baked tortes. I'm quite happy to eat dessert for breakfast on vacation and here, it's definitely a treat. She also puts out a selection of salami and cheeses. Finally, she'll makes fresh ciambellinas, little pillows of dough dusted in powdered sugar. Amazing! Have 5 or 6 of them with a hot espresso. ahhhhh, paradise.

I would readily stay here again when I visit Aosta and suspect it's one of the better places in town for the price.
