This is amazing hotel in historical building, real villa, with baroque-style furniture in very good conditions. The hotel and restaurant stuff are very pleasant. The room is very spacious, clean, stylish. There are well spa center in new building and nice wide county yard. Good breakfast, good service. Some negatives are the following: air conditions in old building are not power enough, the Internet speed seems like at the time of bishop Madruzzo. And hotel locates in quit place with beautiful views - but it is not Trento city, it is far for walking without car and not simple to find without GPS.

Room Tip: In new building rooms have new furniture, air conditions and quite. Old building is not such renovat...

We had three quiet nights in a beautiful Hotel just above Trento (5 minute drive from city centre). Our room was in the new building right across the gardens opposite the main reception. The room was modern-style with a balcony looking of the valley. Very clean and comfortable with all mod cons.

All staff at the hotel and the restaurant was very friendly and welcoming.

The indoor swimming pool was within the new building, outside a whirlpool with a fantastic view across the hills. Some lounge chairs on the lawn allow you to enjoy the panorama, too.

Breakfast is great: plenty of choice in a good quality. The restaurant is excellent a very reasonable in price, lots of locals use it.

Will be going back to this one ...a little gem!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new building, this might give you the garden view Restaurant - Book a tabl...

This was very nearly a disastrous booking. I have rated it "poor" even though the room we ended up staying in was very good indeed. The reason is as follows.

The picture on TripAdvisor is rather misleading. It suggests that the place consists of a small old palazzo converted to a hotel. Indeed, Villa Madruzzo's website does not make clear that the three types of room they offer actually make the difference between (a) staying in a palazzo; (b) staying in a modernist box outside the palazzo; (c) staying in what looks like a Formula 1 hotel which has been built into (and ruined) a wing of the palazzo (carefully obscured in their photos - it is to the left of the one on TripAdvisor, outside the shot!) On arriving, we were told that there was "good news" that we had been "upgraded" from (c) above to (b). In fact, I had envisioned booking a couple of small rooms in (a). On my objecting, the staff instantly moved us into (a), in two vast rooms whose prices (we were then told) started at 198 euros a night. They have obviously experienced similar complaint, and so put up no fight at all! (I then felt rather guilty : but I would much rather have paid for what I had booked, which was a smaller room in a characterful location.) The bar (where we had a few drinks before dinner) was badly-furnished with extremely inattentive bar staff. The dinner was good (although not excellent) and served with a slight whiff of pretention. The breakfast, however, was spectacular. There is the distinct feeling of a wonderful hotel which is not being managed properly. The place should be criticised for misleading advertising - clearly, they know this. I would have had no objection to staying in the "Garden" or "Belvedere" had I not been misled into thinking I was booking a classical place to stay.

This hotel seems to be a bit more geared towards business travellers and conferences than couples, so this is a factor. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, and the restaurant food was very good but a bit pricey. The breakfast was generous and diverse. We stayed in the new wing at our request. The room was a clear expression of Euro-modern minimalism, and frankly, the architect should be smacked around a bit. There were no hooks to hang robes or towels, no dresser for clothes, and a rather uncomfortable square toilet. The wing is clearly designed to be very energy efficient. I work with high-performance buildings, and appreciate the effort, but several features missed the mark. There was a motion-activated light at the mini-bar that is supposed to be helpful, but it turned on and off anytime you moved around the room, shining straight onto the bed. Bedroom lighting was funky and probably very efficient, but it didn't do a very good job of actual lighting. Overall, the design just missed the mark, we thought. "Free" wi-fi didn't work at all. Also, the hotel is well outside Trento, so don't expect to walk downtown for sightseeing.

Room Tip: New wing is very Euro-modern. Old wing is very traditional. You pick.

We had two quiet nights in a beautiful Hotel above Trento. We got a room in the new building right across the park-like yard. The room was modern-style with a balcony facing the yard. Minot complaint: air condition could not really cope with 30+ Celsius temperature outside- the service staff had warned us before.

We had a warm welcome by a german-speaking lady (our Italian is poor) who also showed us the room and gave a short tour on the premises. All staff at the hotel and the restaurant was very friendly and welcoming.

The room was quiet most of the time. You will hear a little of the towns bustle ( road traffic as background) but it did not annoy us. The occasional train passes by (one per hour maybe).

The city centre is close but the hotel recommends taking a taxi ( 12 Euro per ride) because there are no real side walks and the hills are quite steep. note: getting a taxi back from the city was not that easy; after checking 3 empty taxi stands within the old town, we finally got one at the station.

The pool at the hotel is newly built, too: inside a small swimming pool, outside on a sort of balcony a whirlpool with a nice view across the hills. Some lounge chairs on the lawn allow you to enjoy the panorama, too.

Breakfast is excellent: plenty of choice in a good quality. Especially the croissants are nice.
We tried the restaurant and found Very good food at a good price. We had the typical Trentino menu: 4 courses of ham, meat and dessert with a bottle of local Teroldego wine at 75 Euro, for 2 persons.

Villa Madruzzo seems popular not only to couples traveling, in the summer holidays we also saw many families with children.

I don't give full credits though due to the weak AC, and we found the bed sheets/ towels not 100% clean.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room in the new building, this might give you the garden view

Stopped here for one night in August whilst driving south - it's only 5 minutes off the autostrada but blissfully quiet. Room was very comfortable - huge by European standards and very reasonable. The restaurant was excellent and in use by lots of Italians. Breakfast was plentiful and very northern Italian (this is a good thing!)

Room Tip: If you like to swim choose a belvedere room as the pool is in the same building

I've been 4 times at Villa Madruzzo and for sure the best in Trento. It's not a downtown hotel but if you're driving, you can't loose.
Service is fantastic and the restaurant is one of the bests in my life. Traditional Italian food with typical wine from Trentino area.
Rooms make you feel at home because the hotel is like a big house.
Location is not very easy to find, but once you're there, you don't need to get out.
For sure I recommend and I'll stay again.

Room Tip: Avoid top floors during summer time.
