Room was modern, spacious and very clean. No ac so unbearably hot. Decor 1970’s and very strong unpleasant pot pourri smell. A zesty lemony scent would be better. Staff and Breakfast was amazing. Very kind and attentive people and super cakes and coffees for breakfast. Very central and a 5 min stroll to the Center. Take Italian adaptors. Our room on second floor was the only one with a balcony overlooking the car park. I guess the rooms without balcony are even hotter. Grand Hotel from the outside but a bid tired from the inside. Central, very clean, very friendly staff but hot and we did not like the overpowering smell.

Just back from a 2 night stay, half board. First time ever in Gstaat. Hotel looks great and rooms (we were in the chalet # 2) were great, renovated, modern but still with ambiente.
Beds are comfortable, bathroom big and super, nice big balcony. Only problem was, that the room was very warm (no aircondition !!) and the duvets were heavy and warm. Don't understand why the hotel doesn't use summer duvets when there are no aircondition. Anyway.... had two dinners at the hotel restaurant. First a 4 course dinner (turned out to be a three course dinner with a mandatory choice of sorbet ice to "clean the mouth". (Never really understood it, and don't believe it does what it's supposed to do!!)).
The food was really great and portions okay. Second day was a Mexican buffet. We were quite skeptical ... after all... why should a mexican buffet in Gstaat work ? And I'm not a mexican food expert, but can only say that it was amazing!!!.... super starters including a (mandatory) spicy corn soup with squash flowers (in tempura ??), great main dish buffet with 10-15 different choices, all of high quality and very delicious. The dessert was not so impressive but probably authentic!!
We were also impressed with the breakfast (great bread and many offerings a la carte (included in the breakfast price) (ex.: different egg dishes, waffles, french toast, smoothies, homemade granola and yogurt etc.)
During our stay we spend a lot of time hiking in the mountains and only made it to the spa the last day. Spa area is extremely nice, fairly big and with many offerings (pool, Jacuzzi, various steamboats and saunas).
All in all we found the hotel so be good value for money and a super starting point whether you want to explore Gstaat (cosy, but quite small) or the surrounding mountains (highly recommendable)

This is a great location and convenient for the wine festival. Stayed already many times in this hotel and have always been satisfied. can only recommend it! The staff is always helpful and you are only few steps away from town center, in a quiet part of town.

A very good location, within an easy walk of the centre of Merano. The lobby and stairs are indeed very Grand, but just leads to a very ordinary hotel corridor and bedroom. Only disappointed because of the expectation. As previously stated this is a very good 3 star hotel with very helpful staff.

Did book the hotel without previous knowledge. Excellent but for the noise of the traffic in the street where the hotel is. We used ear plugs but might not be needed when you have a room facing the yard. Nevertheless an excellent hotel to stay especially for conferences.

Room tip: Depends on your sleeping habitat. Depend on your sleeping habit.
