This modern, glitzy, glamorous spa hotel in the heart of Merano is a first class destination hotel. Upon arrival, you enter a huge lobby in a modern low-rise building. Just behind the efficient front desk is a beautiful bar, lounge and restaurant area. On our first evening, there was a fashion show and jewelry exhibit with complimentary prosecco or wine in the lounge. The room (346) was large, spacious and overlooked the front of the hotel and the stream which runs through the center of town along the central promenade. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom sparkling, with a combined bathtub and shower. The hotel has good wifi service, which was included in our room booked by a bike tour company (VBT). Since I do not know the cost of the room, I cannot comment about value. The hotel has every level of food service, both casual and more refined. We ate one dinner at the casual bistro restaurant and it was excellent. The grilled shrimp, steamed vegetables and roasted potatoes entree with a special light asian sauce was particularly satisfying. The hotel has its own spa and thermal baths but is also connected by a tunnel to the adjacent public thermal baths contained in a similar looking modern low-rise building. Other members of our traveling party used the baths and found them to be extremely relaxing and easy to navigate. All in all, this is a very surprisingly modern oasis that still manages to fit in a traditional alpine resort. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for something other than an old world, traditional hotel. It is a real stunner.

Located next to the thermal pool, this hotel is also a short walk over a footbridge to the centre of town (5 minutes). Our room was spacious with free wi-fi, an absolutely outstanding breakfast buffet and very helpful staff. Via a corridor from the hotel, you can enjoy the public thermal pools or the hotel pools if you prefer a less busy environment. A quiet, relaxing and well located choice.

We are writing this review some months after our visit, but it defiantly left very good taste, both my wife and me decided this is a place we would like to go back to.
We met the new manager who told us about the history of this place, and you can notice that as new manager he bring new spirit and vision.
The hotel location is perfect, we are not into Ski, we just came to enjoy the area, it is totally different from the typical Sud-Tyrol hotel, it got modern design, with focus on the details, Breakfast and Dinner are very surprising, you can find anything from fresh squeezed orange juice, to typical cuisine for dinner.
The SPA and the Thermal pools is wonderful in winter.
Staying the hot pool while it snows is a moment to remember.

You really cannot do better than staying here when in Merano. At first glance, you may think that the price is a bit steep, but once you actually break down what you get - the meals, the spa access - it is actually pretty reasonable. Even in high season.

The service is super friendly and professional without being snobbish, and the hotel's spa facilities are great (we actually prefer them over the main spa next door.) But what really bumps this place up is the fantastic food.

I stayed at this hotel in early August 2013 for 2 nights. I took the train to Merano from Milan which was not too difficult. The hotel is right in town on the river. I did not realize that the reservation for "half board" included both breakfast and dinner. The breakfasts were typical, but the dinners were excellent - 4 or 5 courses with numerous choices and a health menu also. These were the highlight of the stay. The food was very well done, creative presentations and lots of choices. I also enjoyed the easy access to the public pools, which were crowded but not too crazy. I also had a massage at the hotel spa which was nice but nothing special. Almost all of the other travelers at the hotel seemed to speak German. Rooms were clean and had very strong air conditioning which was great in the heat wave. They included still and sparkling bottled water and local apples.

We stayed late May, early June and the Hotel was excellent. very modern, bar area is large, well appointed, and comfortable. Breakfast is fabulous, most any or everything you want. Did not try the restaurant, but hear it is also very good. Rooms are very upscale, large, bed is good, shower is terrific, bathroom is also very big. Our room looked out over the front courtyard, across the river into town center, which is only 2 minutes walk. Since we were in Northern Italy, I was looking for a restaurant that serves Weiner Schnitzel, I found it on the main shopping street in town, was very good. Merano is situated in a valley, with the Dolomites as a backdrop, the most photogenic setting I have encountered. If you are a guest of the hotel, you have a passage way that connects to the thermal baths, but stay in the private baths for hotel guests, the public ones are very crowded and full of screaming children. Hotel Terme Merano is a class act and a great place to spend a few nights if in Merano.

Room Tip: Only saw our room, but would have to say, all should be fine.

With new owner and new management the hotel was a great positive surprise. Especially the staff is more friendly and professional. The rates and the services are more competitive. They do everything to make you happy. The bar with the terrasse is now bigger with a new winter garden. This part of the hotel can be rated as five star with moderate prices (Aperol Sprizz Euro 4.--). Parking in the garage is free and also the spa is included. The rooms are very clean and in good shape. Breakfast is rich and the food in the restaurant is of good quality. The hotel has now a better concept than before with the Steigenberger group. You will feel the influence of the young but experienced, Director Rudi Theiner. Overall, we can recommend this hotel for a stylish stay, good services and fair prices.
