“Classic, period hotel”

We enjoyed a simple double room here during the Christmas market and had a very pleasant experience. The staff, room, and restaurant were all quite good. We did not have a chance to use the spa but it looked very nice. On-site parking is a bit cramped.

We spent two nights here while attending a meeting. The hotel is located right next to the city spa center (it also has an indoor pool and fitness center of its own) and a short walk from the center of Meran(o). This is a hotel that puts its guests first and is committed to making guests feel at home. Every member of the hotel staff that we encountered was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our room was very comfortable, a real home-away-from-home, with a comfortable bed, high ceiling, comfortable chairs and a balcony. In addition, there is free WiFi throughout the building.
Free parking is available for guests. We didn't eat lunch or dinner at the hotel (the menu looks quite "traditional"), but breakfast was excellent and served in a cheerful and bright dining room. Our room was impeccably clean. We could have easily stayed on for a week, but unfortunately needed to return home. We'll be back!

We have just spent a most enjoyable week in this very friendly family hotel. It is well organised and run on a professional basis where the guest is treated as "king" by all members of staff. Nothing is too much trouble, all you need do is ask Elisabeth in reception and she will help you. We stayed in room 203 with a balcony, at the back of the hotel overlooking the garden which was pleasant and quiet. We enjoyed having our breakfast and dinner on the terrace in the open air, it was lovely. The cuisine was absolutely superb, everything we had was delicious and well presented, what we really liked was the flexibility of choice in menu. Each evening the lady owner came round to speak with each guest at dinner, which is a nice touch. She really cared! The same lady also took the time to shake our hands and thank us for coming when we departed. We commend this hotel as the ideal place to stay in Merano, which is well located to explore the beauty of the Italian South Tyrol area. It is simply wonderful!

We travelled with Inghams who organised a very efficient transfer from Verona airport to Merano a journey of approximately 2 hours. Ian Hill the Inghams representative, is an excellent guide who took us out for hiking trips which were most enjoyable.

Room Tip: Best rooms with a balcony are at the back of the hotel facing the garden. These are quieter than the...

This hotel is one of my favorites (and I travel a lot!): elegant, centrally located yet quiet, fenced in parking facilities, beautiful garden with pool, good restaurant at attractive prices, wonderful breakfast buffet. It is a family-run hotel that is operated in a very professional and personal way.

Room Tip: Get a room in the back with balcony. It's worth the surcharge.

Centrally located, very convenient to the town, the famous public spa and the Christmas market, or the walkways along the Passirio. Private parking included in room price, which was very convenient. For a 4*S hotel our room was on the smaller side, with a tiny tv, and a tiny bathroom (with bidet). They also have nicer rooms in the hotel's dependance, the choice was ours, but in the latter case you had to step outside the hotel in order to reach the hotel's spa, which during winter is not very welcome. Be advised the hotel is advertised as all-room free wi-fi connection, but we couldn't find the wi-fi signal at our floor, even if they gave us a small wi-fi amplificator. Apparently you have wi-fi only in the lobby and some of the rooms, although they don't admit it. One of the reasons we chose the hotel for was free wi-fi so that was really frustrating. The spa area is nice although a bit crowded because it is small. The indoor swimming pool is 31°C, which is good for playing with kids but not so good for swimming, of adequate size and a small whirlpool area. They also have a very small relax room, steam bath and a tiny sauna. Unfortunately there was no herbal tea corner, only a few apples left in a corner but rotten. As we stayed only one night we could not have half board but we had B&B instead (at the same price which was the top price!!) a choice I don't quite understand. Breakfast was plain and unremarkable, typical of sudtirol but not as good as other less expensive and starred hotels in the area: bread, ham and salami, bacon and eggs, orange and grapefruit juices, jams, cereals, yoghurt and coffee/tea. No fresh fruit except apples. Only one type of cake (marmor cake) and no croissants. The staff was nice.
A nice hotel in a wonderful location, but overrated and definitely overpriced. Plus, if they advertise a facility (e. g. wireless connection in ALL rooms) but this is not, that's bait and switch advertising to me. Will not go again.

We really liked the hotel, well situated in the city center. Dinner was remarkable, with up to three choices for the main course (including a vegetarian option). Sometimes the choices were hard to decide, as all food is excellently prepared.
Nice and comfortable sauna and steam bath arrangement.
Meran is ideally situated for walks (of all sorts of difficulties) and for exploring the alpine, but Mediterranean surroundings.
Wi-Fi is free but appears not to work in all rooms and lounges.
Parking in front of the hotel is scarce, be advised that there is a locked parking area behind the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms to the North offer a city view, but are not sunny. The opposite is true for south-facing rooms...
