“Great fish food, with authentic Italian charm!”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

Stopping over for a few days in Merano on our route north, we felt like having a real Italian meal before leaving the land. After reading some reviews at TA, we booked for lunch at L'Alessandra, and what a treat! Although a bit off dowtown Merano, the city isn't that big and the place is worth it. Good, savoury dishes, very reasonably priced and the host, Signore Nilo and his staff, really go out of their way to make you feel at home and happy. Definitely a must when visiting Merano!

“Exceptional!!”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

The food was delicious and the atmosphere very nice. The owner knew what I would like and recommended a nice shrimp salad as a starter. The fish was fresh and nicely prepared. On top the owner was couteous and even kissed my hand while saying good bye. :)

“wonderful seafood”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

Really great trattoria in Merano. It is outside of the tourist area but you will feel like a local. The interior certainly needs an updating, but the food is fresh and beautifully prepared.

“Off the beaten path”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

The place is certainly off the beaten tourist path in Merano but worth a visit. You will not be hurried but can take your time eating.
Just disregard the menu and ask the owner to suggest you a meal either fish or meat based.
The wine prices are pretty much upped but the selection is good.
And do not talk about soccer! You will never ever leave the place again! Waiters and owner are soccer enthusiasts! ;-)))

“Genuine, very good, one of the best atmospheres in town and... the owner's fantastic”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

I have been here many times, and each visit carries the same spirit with it: you feel at home, the food is great, the owner (Nilo) knows you, knows your tastes, tempts you... and you trust him: maybe you tell him what you like and he will deliver something that is just right, without you studying the menu.
There's always some time for a chat or some recollection of Nilo's rich past (he was in the music business).
The place is definitely off the beaten track, in Merano's once huge military barracks area. There's plenty of parking around there, it is served by bus, by the bike path and some 15 minutes walk from town centre and just 5 minutes from the city's camping.
Prices are reasonable.
