“A must see in Bolzano”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

Family and I took the train from Munich through the Bremmer pass just to visit Bolzano and the "Iceman." The museum is well laid out and we were quite surprised with some of the ages of the museum pieces (old!) We went 2 days after Christmas and had the museum to ourselves. The Iceman is very impressive to see and his belongings too. Highly recommend a visit if in town.

“A pleasant surprise”
Reviewed February 3, 2014

We arrived in Bolzano late afternoon on the train from Venenzia in a cold persistant rain.and found our Bed & Breakfast close to the train station. We decided to walk to the main plaza with the intention of seeing if the museum was open - it was and we ended up spending several hours reading about the Iceman whose story I had followed closely from the time he was found in 1992. Museum turned out to be a pleasant surprise and enjoyable few hours on a cold rainy day. The stories related to the Iceman, his finding, the later discoveries, the scientific data, and of course the display of the actual iceman in his special controlled freezer along with all the artifacts found on and with him made for a fascinating few hours.

“Maybe better for families”
Reviewed January 17, 2014

As this museum is the biggest in the city I took time to visit it.

I have to say I have been a bit desappointed, a lot of riding but poor in discovery and proper items !

Really interactive and i really think that is perfect for families.

Try to go there really early in the morning as when I leave the place in middle morning it was an absolute riculous waiting time to go in !

“Well-organized, educational visit”
Reviewed January 15, 2014

The museum is well-organized, very educational. The text are in Italian, German and English. Very nice and relaxing experience, yet full of archaeological, medical, forensic facts.
A good place for children and adults.
The only negative thing was a grumpy lady collecting the entrance fees. We will forget about her and remember the interesting story of a prehistoric man. We loved this place. A "must see" in the South Tyrol area.

“Visiting Otzi”
Reviewed January 6, 2014

We were taken to Bolzano, and particularly the museum, as part of a Christmas package tour organised by Titan tours. The museum is entirely dedicated to exhibiting Otzi and to telling his story. We were spell-bound during our entire visit. All the artefacts collected at the site where Otzi was found in the glacier are displayed alongside very clear and concise explanations. The story of how he was found, what has happened to him since and what has been discovered about him is all laid out so that even the shortest attention span can be kept occupied and informed. It wasn't particularly busy when we visited (23rd December) which would have added to our enjoyment, but the displays are so well thought out and spaced out that bigger crowds should be accommodated very well. You have to leave bags etc in lockers at reception before you begin your visit. You need a 2 euro coin to use the locker which you get back when you vacate. There is a machine for dispensing change if you arrive with only notes in your pocket.
