Owner description: Renon's new cable car opened on May 23, 2009, offering a whole bunch of fantastic advantages for vacationers and local commuters alike: a generous schedule, short travel time and easy access. It's a true gem. It only takes 12 minutes for the gondolas to move from Bozen/Bolzano to Oberbozen/Soprabolzano - they depart every 4 minutes, so there's practically no waiting time.
Useful Information: Wheelchair access, Bathroom facilities, Stairs / elevator

The cable car station of Bolzano is situated in the centre of Bolzano, not far away from the railway station. The view in the cable car is stunning. When arriving to Renon you MUST take the small train to Collalbo/Klobenstein or further on.
This is a nice proposal for a day trip (ideal also for families)

Take the cable car up and then either walk or take the narrow gauge train to see the sand pyramids. Really worth it!

From the edge of Bolzano, a 15-minute cable car ride carries you up the mountain to the edges of the amazing Renon plateau. For 15 euros a person (cheaper options are available), you receive a ticket that is good for all-day travel on the cable car, the trolley train which goes from Soprabolzano to Collalbo, and any buses in the region, making it very easy to explore an area where driving your own car is a bit tricky. The scenery of the Renon is so amazingly beautiful. The area is full of clearly marked trails of all levels of difficulty. When you get tired of hiking around, stop for a meal or a beverage in one of the many little villages. I think if you come to this area without doing this, you have really missed out.

this cablecar connects bolzano and soprabolzano perfectly! every 4/5 minutes you hop on and reach your destination in something like 10'. The short ride is very pleasant and the scenery is beautiful. From the lovely village of soprabolzano you can easily reach the heart of Bolzano (the car ride would take around 20', then you'd need to find a parking spot!)

A must trip while in Bolzano. A really stunning cable car ride takes you to Oberbozen. From there you can catch the narrow guage railway to various local villages high up in the mountains. The train runs every half hour and takes about 20 mins one way.We paid 15 euros each for a round robin ticket. Off the beaten tourist track there is a nice walk from Oberbozen to some earth pyramids taking you over alpine meadows and through a forest, which is easilly signposted.
