“Small but magnificent!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2012

This picture gallery is in the old Fiat factory known as Lingotto. The plant has been moved elsewhere and the building turned into a great showplace with shops and restaurants where you can spend your time on rainy days. There aren't many pictures in the Pinacoteca but the few there are, are all masterpieces by some of the best artists.

“a good though tiny collection of paintings;”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2012

Don't expect the Sabauda collection, nor the Frick or the Norton Simon, not even Jacquemard André.
Yet it is an interesting collection of twenty paintings mainly from the ottocento (Canaletto & Belotto) with beautifull Matisse.
It gives a good example of what good money could buy you into.
The temporary display of catholic church collection of religious items did not convinnce us much but it is to be noted that the building is superbly set on former Fiat's factory (Lingotto) and looks like a Ufo lost on the Lingotto's terrace.
From there you can walk on the former car roof road, a fascinating experience in itself where you can imagine running into Anita Ekberg and Sofia Loren while wondering how superb and fascinating the Alps panorama is at your feet: one of the best scenic views we ever saw; probably even more worth the visit then the pinacoteca itself.
Lingotto is a 10' ride from Porta Nuovo by tube and very close to the metro's exit.
The shoping mall inside is of little interest while nearby EATALY (a high end specialized food mall bringing Italy's best food experiences to eat in a slow food way or take with you) is an experience worth the 10' metro ride too.

“Piano and much more”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2012

A little jewel in Turin Commercial Center provides some surprising paintings from the estate of the Agnelli family, including enormous Canaletto (with classic small details in gigantic frames), good level Matisse and Picasso, and a fantastic Modigliani.
The first and only place in Turin reminding the Phillips and Barnes Foundations, or the Frick Collection, but in a supermodern environment designed by Renzo Piano, resembling a container that wants to remind the industrial origin of the richness of the Agnelli.
Worth the visit is also the view from the roof, that you can access and enjoy only if you have a ticket for the Pinacoteca.
Some exhibitions are kids friendly, with laboratories and dedicated guided tours.

“Absolutely a must!”

Small collection, but almost each picture is a masterpiece! Gallery is on the roof of Lingotto - you can also see car track on the foof (very interesting). Easy to get there by metro.
