“Central and decent small hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

Turin is a wonderful city to visit full of pleasant shops and restaurants. If you like wine, this is the place to be.
The Alpi Resort is a small hotel very centrally located in the city. If your pleasure and business are in the city center there is no need for taxis and public transportation. Everything is in walking distance.
The hotel is located in a stylish house at the third floor. At times you will need to wait a little for the old elevator to come down. Thus, if you're looking for stylish entrance lobbies, this is not the hotel for you. If, on the other side, you look for something more old world (including a bit of a discomfort), this place is perfect.
The hotel staff is friendly, the rooms are not very big but enough (I was staying alone at a double room), the bathroom and especially the shower are very tiny, but also spotlessly clean. There was a bit of noise coming in from outside, but this is the price one pays for staying in the center of town.
Breakfast is good, you can order your own espresso, cappuccino, or tea. The rates (I booked early since I know well in advance that I will be there) were very good for that time of year in Italy.

Thus, if you don't mind the third floor location and the absence of a large lobby, this is probably the best you will find for a 3 star hotel in a wonderful city. I would come back there any time.

Alpi Resort (a little misleadingly named) is a hotel in an apartment building two blocks from the mosts beautiful square (Vittorio Veneto) in Torino and one block from the river Po. It occupies two stories (3 and 4) of the building so try to get a room in the 4th story. The single rooms are very small so I recommend double room as the price difference is negligible, The traffic is not too noisy but there is a tram which sounds like a thunderstorm as it passes (starts at 6) Also there are nice restaurants and bars nearby so in the night there is also some noise from the street. But rooms are air-conditioned and well isolated (you don't hear anything from the other rooms!) so if you keep the window closed you will have no problems. Service is very friendly, breakfast excellent (may be scant on the vegetable sig but lots of fruit), slow wifi (ask for the code which is very easy to remember), and you have a feeling of living in an ordinary Italian bourgois house (nice open balcony corridors where you can even smoke). The lift is small and stairs narrow so this is not for people with moving difficulties.
Good small bae with television, italian newspapers and Herald Tribune. So what more do you need! Ecvellent bus and tram connections everywhere in Turin. And taxi from/to Porta Nuovo station costs 10 euros. Torino is really a place worth a visit!

Room Tip: Upper floor and if possible (I am not sure) windows to the court, not street!

Hotel Alpi Resort is situated near Piazza Vittorio Veneto, place with numerous pubs and restaurant to drink or eat something (300 m). Excellent location, the starting point for the main objectives: Mole Antonelliana (10 min walk), Piazza Castello with the two palaces Palazzo Reale (amazing!) and Palazzo Madama (15 min walk) and Piazza San Carlo (15 min walk) etc
The room (118) where we stayed is spacious, clean and the windows give a courtyard. The breakfast was hearty including cheese, ham, salami, fruits, juice (orange and ananas), tea, coffe jam, butter etc.
The only small problems have been:
1. If you wake up a little later (09.30), you risk not to find a seat at the table, but considering that breakfast is till 10 ... you'll shoot conclusions!
2. The fan that ventilates the bathroom in room 118 removing some strange sounds, which can become distracting at night. But how tired the night trips live no longer hear ...
In conclusion very good location, very good food, very good room ... so, i recommend this hotel

Great location. Staff is very helpful and speaks good English. The only con is that we had to take the stairs with our luggage to get to our room. Decent breakfast and reasonable rates for that time of year (March).

I stayed at this hotel for 3 days on a trip to Turin. As other reviewers on this site have mentioned, it has its pros and cons. The good thing about the hotel is
a) its excellent location : it is very close to the river Po and hence one can check out the action on both sides of the river and it is very close to the piazza costello where all the action is. Indeed, I could reach most places just by walking.
It is also reasonably priced.

b) the hotel desk is knowledgeable, speak good english and are very helpful with very good tips on things to do etc.
c) breakfast is pretty good, hearty and I felt everyone was very polite and professional.
d) the hotel was very clean , has free wi-fi and was comfortable.

The cons are
a) the room/facilities are quite small. The shower is a very small plastic encased area and if you are of more than medium height it is going to be a real struggle in the bathroom.

b) the decor was rather tired and old and one could hear one's neighbours

c) the wi-fi was a bit weak and flaky but workable

d) the hotel itself is on the 3rd flor up a dingy building so please be AWARE OF this by reading this and other reviews. If one is not aware of this, it can be quite disconcerting. There is a small elevator, but I saw 80 year old folks taking the stairs and hence started doing the same :)

All in all, if you are single or a young couple looking to visit torino for a few days, then this is definitely recommended. If you are a big family, not sure, though I did see a family in the breakfast room daily.

Hotel Alpi is ok. Nothing special. Rooms clean. Bathroom tiny but clean. Well located near the river Po. Is 35 euro in a taxi from the airport. However hotel is not ideally located if you want to be near the train station on the other side of town. Mediocre continental breakfast. Not worth getting up for unless you just want to make sure you're not hungry till lunchtime. Probably the same in all hotels in Turin I would guess so not a particular complaint towards the hotel. City has stunning architecture and is beautiful by day and night. Very clean, safe and green and easy to navigate on foot or bicycle as well laid out. Not much traffic. The city is romantic and very Italian and not overcrowded. However for me this city has no soul, no vibrancy, no passion, no heart beat. In addition the food is awful. Being in Italy you would think you could easily find some good pizza or risotto (didn't try any pasta) on any street corner, you'd be wrong. Every meal or snack or appertivos I had were bland and tasteless and hugely disappointing. Even the cheese and pesto sauces at the market was nothing to get excited about. Have had far better food in any Carluccio's (He's from Turin apparently) or Strada in London. This was hugely disappointing for me as Turin is marketed as being for foodies. I hugely disagree. The fashion here is boring also although if you like big designer names then it might cater to your tastes. No hip boutiques that's for sure. Come for the architecture and history, enjoy the fresh air and bring a romantic partner. Do have an expresso though. That's a safe bet.

Quaint and pleasant hotel. The hotel was ideally located for our trip. Located on the third floor with a nice old fashioned lift, or you can use the stairs. The room was clean, in good order and nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. The television was a good size and in excellent working order. The bathroom was adequate and there were plenty of clean towels although it has to be noted that the shower was very small. The breakfast was okay with a choice of fruit, yoghurt, coffee, and usual pastries for a continental breakfast. The staff are very pleasant and helpful which is always a bonus. The only thing was some traffic noise although nothing excessive. Personally I think it would be perfect for a short trip but no longer than two or three nights.
