Owner description: Piazza San Carlo was designed by Carlo di Castellamonte in 1642 and completed in 1650. In the middle of the piazza you’ll find the equestrian statue of Emanuele Filiberto (known to all as “El Caval èd brons”), sculpted by Carlo Marocchetti in 1838. The porticoed buildings surrounding the piazza give space to numerous bars, cafes, and restaurants.

“Beware!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2013

Lovely piazza! Decided to have a pot of tea and a cappuccino (also a tiny free pastry each) at one of the outdoor coffee shops in Piazza San Carlo - And paid €9.50 for the privilege!! This is a total rip-off! I understand that they have overheads and have to make a profit, but, in my humble opinion, this is daylight robbery!! Never again!!

“An impressive square”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2013

The center of Turin, surrounded by the major historical attractions, and the main shopping area. There square is very large and impressive...there is always something going on there.... A visit to Turin would not be complete without visiting it.

“The center of Turin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2013

Piazza San Carlo is the center of Turin and the most beautiful square in the city. The architecture around it shows the grandeur of the 19th century and the arcades which surround the square makes this place a unique landmark. Under these arcades there are shops, cafes and restaurants which of course will be more expensive than in other places but you're paying for the place. Be sure to visit, and you won't miss it if you walk around the historic center as it is between the train station and the royal palace.
