Owner description: Piazza San Carlo was designed by Carlo di Castellamonte in 1642 and completed in 1650. In the middle of the piazza you’ll find the equestrian statue of Emanuele Filiberto (known to all as “El Caval èd brons”), sculpted by Carlo Marocchetti in 1838. The porticoed buildings surrounding the piazza give space to numerous bars, cafes, and restaurants.

“Piazza San Carlo”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

Very pleasant and large piazza in the city center area. Nice to walk around and look into the store fronts and people watch. The Martini sign (which is always in pictures when you pull up Turin) had several neon pieces not working, which was disappointing. Several street musicians gave a very itialian feel to the area. You must visit at least once or your trip to Torino is not complete.

“A beautiful piazza”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

This is quite a large piazza, in keeping with the general sense of additional space that Turin has compared with many Italian cities. It's cream coloured buildings, with via Roma coming off the piazza, make for a really pleasant city space.

“what a lively place on Sunday evening!”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

During the day, a vast nearly empty square, but comes alive in the evening. Ringed by elegant cafes and at least one fantastic chocolate store (since 1836) with all the local specialties.
