Owner description: Piazza San Carlo was designed by Carlo di Castellamonte in 1642 and completed in 1650. In the middle of the piazza you’ll find the equestrian statue of Emanuele Filiberto (known to all as “El Caval èd brons”), sculpted by Carlo Marocchetti in 1838. The porticoed buildings surrounding the piazza give space to numerous bars, cafes, and restaurants.

Another beautiful piazza in Italy, another beautiful city. Even though it was raining when I went there, it was still very beautiful!!! :)

This is a magnificent square with arcades on all sides and twin churches at the entrance: a Baroque treasure. The boutiques and historical coffee shops are of the highest quality. A pleasurable walk and a joy to the eye

We arrived at San Carlo clueless, as our first destination, and stopped at a random cafe only to find the cheapest thing on the menu was a small (very small!) beer for 5 Euros. Turns out we'd stopped at a famous historical cafe, called Caffe San Carlo. Who knew? Stop at the wonderful Visitor Center in the Piazza di Castello first instead! And go on the wonderful Walking Tour (in English/Italain) so you have a better idea of what you're visiting.

Beautiful place to just sit a people-watch, we bought focaccia from a nearby bakery and ate it on a bench in the piazza enjoying the sun. Avoid the cafes around it unless you want to pay crazy prices!
