“Nice Place”
Reviewed December 31, 2009

We stayed there for three nights. It was very well located (next to train station) for someone who didn't have a car and depended on walking, buses and tram to get around. Room was clean and spacious. The tratoria next door is a great place to get a simple and good meal, packed with real Italians. The only downside to the hotel is that they charge you extra for wifi access and on top of it the access was poor inside the room.

Nice hotel. Great service. Close to center of the town (8-10 min walking distance). Don't miss pizza Napoli on via Mazzini (5 min from the hotel). Must see Via Roma - 2 min from the hotel. And if you feel like going to Milan (2 hours by train) the train station Porta Nouva - is 2 min away. An excellent balance quality - price.

I stayed for 3 nights. Quite possible we got lucky because we got put in a huge double room on the top floor. The room was very clean and extremely spacious, and the bathroom was modern and large. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The area seemed acceptable to me, especially with respect to the low price we paid (just over £40 per night for the double room). The hotel is a short walk from the Porta Nuova train station. Additionally, I'd thoroughly recommend the Ristorante Urbani (maybe 50m further up the road, on the same side as the hotel).

We stayed for one night, and the staff were extremely courteous and helpful, however the room we stayed in was very dark and dingy. The price of the room to be fair, was reasonable, especially as this included breakfast (wide variety of food and drinks).

The downside of our stay was the location of the hotel itself. When we arrived there were groups of men hanging around on the street corners, and unfortunately, after taking an initial wrong turn out of the hotel - we were in the heart of the red light district within 5 minutes. The whole area didnt feel safe at all, and we would not have considered staying out until late in the evening as a result. Having said that, if you take the right turnings (!), the main attractions are within a 5 minute walk, and you are in the heart of Turin.

We stayed here for 2 nights and I do think that it was overpriced for what it was although I guess that you have to accept that Italy is very expensive. As the previous correspondent indicated the hotel in not in the best area and would certainly not recommend it for single female travellers. I also found that it was quite noisy as the hotel back on to a courtyard of flats. For the first night we had the pleasure of someone’s guitar playing and the 2nd night it was two dogs in competition. I would recommend paying a bit extra and staying in one of the hotels on the other side of Via Paolo Sacchi. There is a real divide with this street been the cross over point. Unfortunately this hotel is on the wrong side! One the plus side, Turin is well worth a couple of days if you have time.

Stayed at the Urbani for three night with my sister ,its a great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff its just a pity it is not in another street . On the day of our arrival the first thing we noticed was " two ladies of the night " hanging around,( although we could not quite work out their actual gender), and on our last night we were kept awake half the night with fighting going on at the restaurant across the street .So if you can put up with minor problems then it is a great place to stay.

I did not have high expectations for this hotel, and so I was not disappointed. There were no frills, but they were across the street from the train station (which is why I booked them), and close to many of the interesting areas one would want to visit. Do not expect too much though. The rooms were clean, however, very simple, and the breakfast was good, but not extraordinary.
