“A visit to the Basilica of Turin is a must..wonderful city views!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2013

The Basilica of Superga in Turin is quite easy to reach even by public transport. There is a 10 minute ride on a scenic train going up and down the Basilica to Sassi every thirty minutes.

The views from up there of Turin are fantastic especially on a clear sunny day.

They also make great coffee at the coffee bar which you can find on the left hand side of the Basilica.
Truly worth a visit!

“Excellent city break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

Basilica itself it's nice, visible from many roads around Turin so it's simply calling you to visit it. Wake up call for curiosity! The first thing you will hear form locals it's tragedy from 1949. about football players of "Turin" team. On the way you can enjoy nice landscapes from the car or for those who are sportive through hiking routs which are many, from small places on foot of the hill or on the hill around Basilica. There is also possibility to use small train that brings you almost at the top.
Inside the Basilica for me, apart of the architecture, were interesting paintings (amateur) from 19. century and much older where persons represented events from their life when they had received mercy from Madonna. For 3 euros there is also possibility to climb stairs till cupola and to get even better view over Turin.Entrance in Basilica is free.
Nice place to make some picnic and enjoy the nature close to the city.
Only problem was to find parking up, although there is a big space provided but we visited Superga during Easter and after bigger to go down, we spent 2h in that action because of the traffic light that there is at the end of the road going down and big number of visitors.
Fore sure gives much more pleasure in less busy day even we really enjoyed.

Lovely breathtaking view of Torino and the Alps in the background. Worse visiting on a sunny day. Visit the area of Sassi

“peaceful and beautiful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013

Up there it is so peaceful and the view of Turin is great. The ride up is one of the highlights also, the old 'train' is an experience in itself. The only problem is that it stops quite early. There is a bus, which I understand is on every hour, from further down from the Basilica.

We took a tour of the tombs which was very informative. The tour was in Italian which was ok for us since we do understand Italian perfectly, though if there was someone who didn't, I don't think the guide would have been able to conduct it in English. The guide though was very knowledgeable and it showed that he did it was because he loved his history!

All entrance fees are free with the Torino Card.

“Best view of Turin”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2013

Have a trip to Sassi by bus or tram and catch the mountain railway to the basilica at the top of the mountain.Brilliant views of the Po valley and the Alps in the distance which flank Turin around the north. Sad to be reminded of the disaster which struck Torino football club when their plane hit the bank behind the Basilica and killed all of their brilliant team.Don't miss it but choose a clear day.
