“symbol of the history of Torino”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

On the hill of Torino you'll see this big church which is so beautiful, peaceful, you can go up to the roof by stairs (paying ticket) and see the panoramic view, then down the church you'll see the royal toms and behind the church it's reminded the biggest italian team FC Torino whose airplane fell down crashing against the church.

“Go for the amazing view - But the church itself is standard Italian”
Reviewed August 31, 2012

You will find the Basilica on top of a mountain right outside Torino, a 15 minute drive. You must have a car or some other way of transportation to get there, I would not walk up there my self. The climb is about 550 meters.

The view is stunning. For 3 euros, one person also gets to go to the top of the Basilica to have a view of Torino completely rid of trees and masts in the way, the view is amazing.

I am slightly ashamed to have to say that the rest of the church is however average. We have seen so many stunning and amazing cathedrals and churches in Italy, that this is just one more small-sized building. It is very beautiful though compared to most churches in the rest of Europe, so together with the view, this becomes a decent and worthwhile attraction in Torino.

“Superb View of the City”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

When I first came to Turin, this Monument was a prime attraction for me. Standing tall on the Hilltop, this place looks beautiful at night with all the lighting. I went here on a weekend. I took the tram from the Sassi station at the bottom of the mountain. The view from the top was superb and the Basilica is a really beautiful monument. I spent 2-3 hrs on the top to admire the beauty and the calm of the place. In the return journey, I took a walk down the hill, partly by road and partly through the trekking route in the forest. If you like trekking, this is a nice place to do so in Turin.
Do visit this place.

First you stroll toward river and cross to other side on bridge. continue to tram which will bring you up to top of hill for view of city and mountains of north west italy. tram is about 7 euro and worth it. basilica is massive and set here since 1700s. grounds are surounded by forest with a trail down, you can walk. If you are a hiker (and adventurous) Hike down this old trail. made before roads! bring water, no sandels.. 2 to 3 hours of pure, are we lost... no trail is marked but remember travel down hill and you will find civilization:) good luck! chio!

“Superga, Turin”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

It was fun taking the cog railway from Turin to Superga, where a basilica sits on a hill. From the towers you have a 360 degree view of the environs as well as a look at the terra cotta roofs. You can take a tour of the tombs of the House of Savoy, underground (cool even in summer).
