“Hotel Dock Milano Torino”
Reviewed April 17, 2012

I stayed at the Dock Milano last week and was delighted with my stay. The location for travellers cannot be beaten as the pick up/ drop off from the airport bus is less than five minutes away from the hotel and that, to me is a great plus.
Prices were extremely very good value for money. The building is architectually beautiful, well decorated and very clean.
Our room, 105, was not large, but perfectly adequate and was cleaned and beds changed every day. It faced a central courtyard and was therefore very quiet.
The breakfast room is large and airy and tables are well spaced, something that is not true of many hotels. There was a good variety of meats, cheeses, rolls, sweet and savoury and unlimited tea and coffee. Again, this was good value for the price.
The staff are excellent. Helpful, knowlegeable, and very pleasant. Frederica was exceptionally
good and our cleaner changed our pillows (which were a bit too firm) for some soft ones.
We will most certainly use this hotel again in the future.
Thanks to all staff.

Room Tip: Depends what you want. I like quiet rather than a view when in a city, so 105 was good for us.

Hotel Dock Milano is a 3* hotel with a great location and friendly staff. I stayed for four nights with breakfast included, breakfast is a small buffet with coffee available from the machine or bar. Wifi is available for €4 per day which I think is very reasonable. There is transport avaliable from just out side the hotel with metro, buses, train and trams all available for access into town and trains for travelling to other main cities such as Milan for €20 return. Satellite tv is provided with films at 21.10 on channels 4&6 available to change into English. Our flight was late at night and check out is at 11 am at the hotel but the hotel have a room where you can leave your luggage and collect it later. Over all I think this hotel is very good for families to stay in :-)

We stayed at the Dock for one night as we took the trains into Porta Susa from Chambery France. The next day we carried on by train to Milan to fly out of Europe. The Chambery-Turin train is a particularly painless way to get between France and Italy if you want to avoid the huge one way car hire drop off charges incurred by dropping a car in another country. Both cities are easy to deal with, charming and formerly part of the same Savoy kingdom. As noted by another author it is deviously complicated to work out how to get out of Porta Susa station but with the aid of GPS we made it to the right exit.

The Dock is very close to the station but this being lovely Turin a railwayside location does not come with any grottyness. The reception staff were faultlessly helpful and friendly. We had a quad room with a double and 2 single beds. The room was fairly characterless but it was clean and reasonably sized with a small internal facing balcony. It was the first hotel we stayed at with a Biday which fascinated my 2 and 4 year olds. Breakfast was quite elaborate as far as continental budget to mid-range hotels go and it was included in the price.

We arrived at about 2:30, after lunch would normally be served but the man who ran the bar under the hotel took pity and provided us with an excellent meal - 3 pastas, 2 beers, 1 coffee and bread for less than 20 I think. You will never go hungry in Italy.

The historic centre is a very pleasant walk down lovely porticoed sidewalks. I had no preconceptions for Turin and was hugely impressed. It is an extremely grand place and there is barely a tourist a site. I could happily have spent a few days here, or perhaps moved there to live.

We stayed here for one night, and chose the hotel for its close proximity to Porta Susa. The room was quite spacious, clean and the staff very friendly. Some things in the room needed a little maintenance, but nothing drastic. Buffet breakfast was included and although quite basic, was sufficient (although the coffee was truly terrible). Wifi is also available at a cost. The hotel is quite an easy walk (20mins) from the cultural center and is very conveniently for the trains.

We used the hotel for an overnight stay on our train journey from Paris to a holiday in Venice.
The hotel is well positioned, ony a few minutes walk from the station (Santa Susa) but was not noisy. The rooms were clean (very) and the staff very helpful.
A bit too basic for a longer holiday stay, but for a 'station' hotel it was very good indeed.

We arrived by train in Genoa at 21-00hrs on Wednesday 14 September 2011. Just one problem finding the hotel. It is situated adjacent to the old train station not the new one. The exits out of the new station are a problem that even the Italians had trouble.. We had to ask how to reach the hotel and although we were shown the hotel from a distance the exits from the new station were confusinf. The hotel is old bur we enjoyed are one night stay and of the 7 hotels we booked on our trip that all included breakfast this was the best breakfast for variety and choice. It is situated at the end a lovely street with a colonade. You must visit the outdoor market that is on Republicca Square that is the biggest outdoor market in Europe. The fruit stalls are a sight to see with excellent bargains for every fruit and fugi imagineable.

We stayed three nights at Dock Milano and were pleasantly surprised by the lovely spacious room, with a balcony, ensuite, cable television (only in Italian though), fridge and safe – everything you would expect of a three star hotel. A good buffet breakfast is included and the staff were friendly and helpful.

This was our first hotel in Italy and certainly the best so far, though no more expensive than the others we have stayed in. The location is good, being near a main station, and it was not really far to walk to the centre. There is an interesting morning market in a nearby street.

Turin was a very enjoyable city, with lots of cultural activities, and Dock Milano was a perfect base from which to explore.
