Owner description: The Museo delle Antichità Egizie is the only museum other than the Cairo Museum that is dedicated solely to Egyptian art and culture. Many international scholars, since the decipherer of Egyptian hieroglyphs Jean-François Champollion, who came to Turin in 1824, spend much time pouring over the collections. It was Champollion who famously wrote, “The road to Memphis and Thebes passes through Turin”.The collections that make up today’s Museum, were enlarged by the excavations conducted in Egypt by the Museum’s archaeological mission between 1900 and 1935 (a period when finds were divided between the excavators and Egypt). The Egyptian Museum in Turin has begun 2009 an important project which wants to widen spaces in order to enhance the collections through modern museographical and museological criteria. The Museum will be open all over the period of restoration and the New Egyptian Museum inauguration is scheduled for the year 2015.

We loved the collection! Largest collection that we've come across, outside Egypt. Would recommend to everyone visiting Turin.

lots of artifacts such as mummies and Sphinx sculptures, jewelries, pots. Liked the illumination of the room with the sculptures :)

I rather liked this place - the museum is undergoing renovations, and some galleries are closed, but it's reputed to be the best collection of Egyptian artefacts outside of Cairo, and it shows. There's something rather nice about the old fashioned rooms with the mummies and the 'death books', there's no attempt here to impress the kids with flashy displays and videos - just like museums used to be. I suspect this will all be eventually swept away, so go now whist you still can..

Do not waste your 7.5 euros on an adult ticket for this less than 30 mins visit to the museum unless you are really really fond of knowing Egyptian History.

For someone looking for mummies, or original artefacts, this place is nothing short of disappointment.

Add to that the fact that 1 of the 3 floors was under construction and there was no notice of it put at the ticket counter..it was only when you finished the 3rd floor that you get to know of it.

The only good piece was the house of Gods which was pretty incredible.
