“Fantastic location, historic hotel”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

The location of this hotel is great and there is a parking available. The rooms are spacious and clean but no luxury. The staff at the reception was very courteous and helpful. However, with such an historic hotel (among its guests Mozart, Napoleon, etc.), they could do more with the decoration, ambiance, etc. to improve its charm and attractiveness.

This is beyond a shadow of a doubt the one hotel in the world where I have spent most nights in my life. Over a period of ten years I must have racked up a hundred by now if not more. That would be good, right? Well I don't know. I really like the place but that's in good part because of the location, which is absolutely brilliant, in good part because of the staff, which are extremely friendly (but hey, they would be if you've spent so many nights at their place), in good part because I like the setting and, it must be said, in good part because accommodation in Turin is so grossly overpriced. The breakfast room is splendid, the rooms won't fill much on your camera's memory card (which is a good thing in a city like Turin) but it must be said, they are far more spacious than those of many hotels in this price range. Unfortunately, the room decoration and general ambience of the halls are no match at all, which is odd and a pity because this place oozes history. The facilities are a bit run down but in a charming way. I know many who dislike it, I like it except for the fact that there's no bar :(

Room Tip: The rooms in the "new" (read: drab) wing are the quietest, if that's what you need. De...

I am afraid to say that my daughter and I were very disappointed with our room. We were paying Euros 125 per night and were expecting a comfortable room, not grand luxury, but not the tasteless room with which we were confronted. The beds were a little narrow with metal frames and no headboards, very functional bedspreads, no valances and hard, uncomfortable mattresses. The wardrobe cupboard looked like something out of a cheap boarding house. We had to gaze up at a ceiling garishly painted to look like the sky and we also had a strange area of wall painted to look like a window with two twee black cats sitting looking out, the sort of thing my children might have appreciated when they were very small. The only part of the room which did not offend was the bathroom. Come on Dogana Vecchia - a little Italian style please!!

Room Tip: Do not stay in one of the comfort double/twin rooms @ Euros 125 per night. The rooms @ Euros 170 ar...

Our room was decorated in a charming, old-fashioned manner, but the bathroom was contemporary and functional, so, best of both worlds. The desk people and the breakfast staff were courteous and helpful, and the location is great for seeing the sights of Turin. We like the small, unique hotels, and found this to be a place we would recommend.

There is not a pool and I did not see the exercise facility, if there is one, so that's why I gave a low rating. Remember that this is an old, historic place, not a spanking new building in Chicago where one has different expectations regarding facilities.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the street, but the interior shutters kept out any noise.

We stayed in teh middle of August for City Tour. The location is great, parking is a bit expensive (20 euro per day) but you can park outside, 500 mt away, it's not so bad. breakfast is average, nothing special, staff is very helpfull and kind.
Well, the hotel is really old and It would need a rennovation, but I like it. The room are noisy because most of them overlook the inside parking, and the windows are old and not sound -prouf, so if you decide to take this hotel and want to sleep till ten, I think it's not worth. There are some amazing bedroom, which are the ones Mozart Style, those overlook the street, and I think they are less noisy, but much more expensive. they change the towels everyday, kind of them, but it' s not worth and not ecological at all!!

amongst 8 months in italy, staying all over the country...mostly in apartments, but a fair few hotels, we loved this place. It was charming and atmospheric. Nothing flash. It's not 5 star, it's old world charm and family run. wonderful staff. they make the place. they helped us so much.
the rooms were simple, comfortable and had something abou them beyond their "star rating"...again a kind of old world charm.
not noisy as rooms we saw faced a internal courtyard.
it's a very old palazzo building.
the breakfast room was one of the loveliest most atmospheric rooms have been in...like an old ballroom.
and!!! good on them! espresso coffee offered and made as part of breakfast!!! and not just one! what a nice touch...and smart. doest cost much, but I remember it and it's hear in my review.
good breakfast.
great location
off street parking.
really liked this place...it's not any one thing...or a list of features...it's the personal caring service and clearly loved by its proud owners and staff.
my daughter was ill, and the lovely woman behind reception wrote down a detailed italian translation of what we needed from the pharmacy.
we spent three nights and extended it to 5 nights!
I would go back in a heartbeat.
