“Peace and quiet in the heart of Turin”
Reviewed June 4, 2014

What a beautiful home Carlo and Elena have. As you will see from the visitor photos, the B&B is within the historic, frescoed, Palazzo Scaglia di Verrua (the entire top floor in fact), beautiful. Though this is a genuine historic palazzo and venerable with it, the interior of the B&B is modern, clean, spacious and very comfortable indeed.

Location wise, the B&B is perfect – just off of Via Garibaldi, which is the ‘main drag’ of the Turin’s Centro Storico , which runs onto Piazza Castello - well-connected and within easy walking distance of the majority of Turin’s sights.

Although the B&B is very central, it is also very quiet, which, in combination with the comfortable beds, will mean you get a good night’s sleep here.

Carlo and Elena are very welcoming, helpful and friendly hosts.

Breakfast is laid out by your hosts at the time of your choosing (within a reasonable timeframe) and consists of the typical continental fare, a wide range of pastries, cakes, fruit and cereal. Weather permitting you can take your repast out on the extensive terrace, which overlooks the frescoed central loggia of the palazzo – a great start to the day. Being English, we were surprised to find no tea & coffee making facilities in our room itself but a minor quibble in an overall perfect stay.

If we are ever to return to Turin, without hesitation B&B Via Stampatori is the only place we’d stay – thoroughly recommended.

This is a fantastic B&B that is bigger than it may appear (8 sprawling rooms that share a common terrace area) in a beautiful old palace. I'll be honest, the building itself is a little confusing (it takes four keys to get from the street to the room!) and I got a bit lost finding my room the first time I returned to it on my own, but the B&B itself has been redone and it is very sleek and modern inside. There are multiple common areas (the one I was off had almost a full kitchen and a fridge, which was great to make use of) and two different wifi connections. The location is perfect, a 5-10 minute walk from Piazza Castello, near public transport connections, and many great restaurants (not that those are hard to find in Torino!).

My room was bright, spotlessly clean, modern, and spacious. Bathroom was brighter than the average, though the cloth shower curtain made it hard not to make a mess. Bed was, in particular, one of the most comfortable and largest I've slept on in Europe.

Carlo and Elena are wonderful hosts who take the time to give suggestions, and serve breakfast (more than adequate with coffee, pastries, rolls, fruit, yogurt, etc.) around common tables so you can talk to the guests. And in decidedly and joyously un-touristy Torino, that meant a nice and diverse group of lovely people. Carlo also reserved me a taxi for my highly unfortunate 4:30am airport departure, which I greatly appreciated! Every time you saw either of them they would ask and make sure everything was OK. And they live at the end of the terrace so they are there if you need anything.

All in all this is a very special B&B in a perfect location that provided a wonderful and relaxing respite at the end of each busy and fun-filled day in an absolutely fantastic city. I can't wait to return to Torino and I would not even consider staying anywhere else.

It was a treat to spend a couple nights in the Palazzo Scaglia di Verrua, which dates from the 16th century as a historical sign on the exterior of the building points out. OK, maybe the room is not exactly what you might have in mind if it had always remained a castle, but the room was certainly nice and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We had the suite, as my wife’s sister joined us. Breakfast out on the terrace overlooking the courtyard is really pleasant. But the personal touch of Carlo and Elena makes the stay an excellent experience. They could not have been any nicer: making reservations (when restaurant’s phone was constantly busy or not answered), making useful suggestions, efficiently dealing with emails and with running the place.

Hidden in a nice Palazzio, the B&B is reached climbing two flights of wide low stairs. A door opens onto a terrace where you are greated with a lot of light and the nice hosts. The bedrooms are styled in a very nice way. More important the beds are of high quality ensuring a good nights' sleep. In the morning the simple italian styled breakfast with fresh fruit, yoghurt and nice pastries prepare you for a good start of the day. When the sun is out the breakfast is served outdoor. The location is great. Very close to the city-center with places to eat and drink. The trip to the airport is also easy. Feeling at home here, we will come back.

This place was wonderful. The old building is beautiful and well located, everything is pretty much within walking distance. The rooms are great, with high ceilings and ours was near the balcony to the square inside the building. You know it is a special and historic building when many others are coming into the square to check out the paintings on the side of the buildings. The B&B owners were great and even called us a taxi for an early morning departure as well as provided us with breakfast in advance (coffee and croissants). For the location, kindness, wonderful breakfast and price, this really is a no-brainer. We will come again when we return!

The B&B is on the top floor of a 16th century mansion/palace in the centre of Turin (no lifts). The rooms have been revitalised with artistic style using elements of Italian designers. The rooms are uncluttered but classy. Even the tables in both breakfast areas have style, plus there is a scattering of art. One thing to note is that on late arrivals there is not specific bell for the B&B, it has the hosts names listed, and you need to get access as there are two security doors. Elena and her husband are very helpful and welcoming. The location is very good, the main shopping street is a 100 metres from the front door, the wonderful galleries and squares are all a short walk as is the Shroud of Turin. Add to that a good selection of places to eat within a short walk, one of our favourites was the Pizzeria on the corner 10 metres from the front door, and you have the ideal B&B.

Great location, good breakfast, nice hosts, clean rooms, everything scores full. The best is the bed! Never had such a comfortable bed on trips. It will never be a wrong pick to stay with B&B Via Stampatori in Torino. What a pity that I had too little time to stay in the B&B.
