“We took the wrong 7....”

Who knew that the tram 7 runs at other times as well? We didn't and so when we boarded the number 7 at just before the time we expected it, we found ourselves not on a pleasant round trip of the city, but in neighbourhoods very far from the extents of our maps. So be warned, the 7 isn't always what you think it will be. We will try again another time!!

nice, confortable. you can actually travel in an old cart whith a regular 1,50 ticket a good value for your money. ALSO suggest the trolley festival that should be in the centre of Turin (Giardini Reali) on the 1st of december

This is a normal tram line (line 7) which uses historic trams restored to their former glory. This line takes a circular route around the centre of Turin starting from Piazza Castello. It is a great way to see the main area of Turin and definitely one of the fun things to experience. The full ride takes around 50 minutes and only costs €1.50.

A tram from an era bygone circles the city giving you a feel and insight into what you may miss noticing in an otherwise busy time. Its nothing spectacular but gives a socio- cultural insight into the city.Tram 6 is another way of seeing the city too...its different neighborhoods and the various ethnicities.

Living near San Francisco's historic F-Line streetcar route makes me pretty hard to impress when it comes to other 'historic' streetcar operations, but someone obviously made sure it was top-notch. Given Turin's rich history of tram operation, with such an extensive network of tracks both in service and abandoned, it's no wonder why they're able to keep this operation as their crown jewel of the GTT system popular.

The variety of equipment, all of it pre-1965, some of it even preWWII makes for a pleasant variety of equipment. Like San Francisco, some cars have come from other cities. The cars themselves are kept in immaculate condition and can be ridden for the same 1.50€ ticket as the rest of the GTT system. The highlight of the collection are some older articulated cars with beautiful trucks (bogies).

Motormen and Conductors were happy to answer questions, and were very eager to share the history of their system. The passion was nice to see, as I'm sure its a high seniority job in the GTT system to have such a pleasant and easy trip.

The Trip itself rather efficiently takes you past most of the important sights and plops you in Piazza Castello. After a 30 minute stop, the route continues again. You can catch it at any point along its route, but I'd reccommend getting on at Piazza Castello.

For the normal tourist, I'd leave the tram at Piazza Castello if you have ridden from another location and the car has stopped. It took me a few minutes to realize this was a crew change point.
