in their work, in their environment, in their job.
This restaurant is everything that people on this site claimed it is: a bit hard to find (not if you read the reviews carefully), lots of atmosphere, dignified, excellent service, excellent wine, excellent food. The array of choices from the menu

In a magic atmosphere, breathing culture an old fashioned environment I had beautiful dinner with my parents. Delicious piedmont cuisine and an excellent service.

Tucked away in a historical building just off one of Turin's main central streets, this restaurant is really capable of giving you a literary bohemian feel of when this was more of an Artists' cove than a Reading Club (that's what it is). In any case the hubbub of Culture is pleasantly represented by the varied tester menu (if you can persuade all the guests at the table to do the same) or by the seasonal choices you find à la carte.
I had Red Cherasco snails as a starter and skipped to the main course with a Finanziera (a typical and rather unassuming plate that collects the cockscomb and wattle of the hen, chicken livers, veal innards,...., beef filets, veal brains, porcini mushrooms, vinegar, white wine and Marsala). It is hardly an easy plate to make at home and if you are not Italian is is certainly worth a try, if you can stomach it (pun intended).
Stefano Fanti is a meticulous and passionate professional. This is reflected in the food.

Il Circolo dei Lettori is a private literary club, which has opened its doors to the public for the restaurant and cafe. Hidden on the first floor of a typical Turinese palace with a lovely internal courtyard, Il Circolo dei Lettori offers a rare glimpse of this notoriously reserved city's cultural life.
I went for a business lunch one day and it was pleasantly quiet. The food was excellent if not particularly abundant. I had snails as appetiser, which I love and are hard to come by and a vegetarian dish for main dish. The sorbets were great too. Went back the next day for dinner and the scene was more lively. Service was friendly but professional and the waiter remembered my choices and suggested new options.

Directions: Once you get into the main door turn left, then follow the red carpet up the stairs to the first floor, then turn right and go down some steps in the arched ceiling restaurant. Afterwards you can sip your coffee in the veranda overlooking the courtyard.

I was impressed by the located (tucked away in a nice building off Via Po) and, more importantly, the quality of the food and service. The service was attentive, professional, and never over bearing. The sommelier was particularly impressive. One of the better meals I've had in Turin and will definitely return.
